:egg15: I could not get to the cams, but this may be on my end...I'm unsure. I also am unable to pull up some screen captures off bear chat. This is what I get here eventually:

"portal.hdontap.com’s server IP address could not be found."

:eggthumb: From the "Falcon Wire":

8/29/2023 :: Where have the falcons gone?
Falcon visits to the ledge have been few and far between for the last few weeks. But 85/AK and 09/BS remain in the neighborhood. Now that this year's offspring have departed to explore the world and seek out their own place in it, the Rachel Carson adults are more likely to be seen atop 333 Market or in the skies above downtown Harrisburg, with occasional stops at the ledge. If you have spotted one or both falcons on the cameras recently, consider yourself fortunate!

But where have the juvenile falcons gone? The truth is we don't know. For the next year or so, they are likely to explore a broad area of habitats and nest-site possibilities before settling on one location to establish as theirs. For an idea where Green, Yellow and Blue might eventually wind up, we can look to the seven previous Harrisburg fledglings that were identified as adults.

Hatch year 2000, *W/G, banded as a male, but later identified as female, Palisades, NJ, about 160 miles northeast of Harrisburg. Observed on territory in 2001.

Hatch year 2005, 3/T, male, Reading, PA, about 50 miles east of Harrisburg. Nested from 2008-2021.

Hatch year 2006, 75/Y, female, Beaver County, PA, about 180 miles west-northwest of Harrisburg. Identified in 2008, believed to be still on territory as late as 2021.

Hatch year 2008, A/53, female, Wilmington, DE, about 80 miles southeast of Harrisburg. Nested from 2010-2023.

Hatch year 2009, 49/AE, female, Cuyahoga County, OH, about 265 miles northwest of Harrisburg. Two different nest-sites, from 2011-2023.

Hatch year 2009, 51/AE, female, Bethlehem, PA, about 85 miles northeast of Harrisburg. Nested from 2012-2016.

Hatch year 2011, 28/AP, male, Conowingo Dam, MD, about 55 miles south-southeast of Harrisburg. Identified in 2013, confirmed in 2014, unknown if he is still present.

Of course, these are only the offspring that were observed and reported. It is very likely that others nested but were never identified or reported. But judging from these past examples, we could look for male offspring to nest in a 50-60 mile radius from Harrisburg, and female offspring to nest anywhere from 80 to 300 miles from the natal area. If we are lucky, someday in a few years we'll receive a report of one of this year's fledglings to add to the history of Harrisburg's peregrine falcon family.

:egg15: Stick cam is offline currently for me.

:egg16: Without the names we use for some of these falcons, it is a little hard to follow, but you get the picture. From the "Falcon Wire":

9/15/2023 :: It's All Relative
For many years, Harrisburg falcon fans have followed the long-tenured and prolific RCSOB-hatched falcons that nested in Reading, PA and Wilmington, DE. In their long careers, 3/T (Reading male 2007-2021) and A/53 (Wilmington female 2010-2023) collectively fledged 95 chicks, grandchildren to the original Harrisburg pair of 4/4 and *W/V, and cousins to 48/AE, the dominant female in Harrisburg from 2012-2022, who was herself a niece of 4/4.

With complete turnover of nesting adults at all three sites in the past few years, it is an interesting coincidence that the falcons there continue to be related to each other. 09/BS, Harrisburg's dominant female, is the daughter of 3/T, granddaughter of *W/V and 4/4, and cousin of 48/AE. Reading's new male is a son of 3/T, and 09/BS's brother. His offspring are great-grandchildren to Harrisburg's original pair, and cousins of varying degrees to all other Harrisburg offspring. Wilmington's new female is a sister of 48/AE, and niece of 4/4. Her offspring are also cousins to nearly all Harrisburg progeny.

With a family tree too complex to chart, we can only say that between these three sites, it's all relative!

10/2/2023 :: Falcon Camera Repairs Underway
Followers have noticed Falcon Cam One is down. The issue is not an internal problem that can easily be resolved. Fortunately, a vendor has been secured and will be addressing the wiring as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued interest in the RCSOB Falcons.

:egg15: Was hoping that the stick cam working during the night was d/t it being fixed, but thought it odd that it started working on a Sunday. Turns out it was just one of those short-lived times that it sporadically works as it has done so in the past. The stick cam is down. I check it daily or nightly would be more accurate...

From the Falcon Wire:

11/9/2023 :: Falcon Cam 1 is Back
Hooray! While we continue to troubleshoot the source of the Falcon Cam issue, today we were able to observe both falcons at the nest box. We are hoping the issue is resolved, but we will continue to investigate.

However, for me tonight cam 1 is down...

Was unable to get on BCAW last night but notice tonight the point and ledge cams are focused out on the city. The stick cam is still down.

I always click on the stick cam (cam 1) even though it indicates it's not working as sometimes you are able to get a view. And tonight I am getting one, just not the usual view as it is showing the city and part of a building.

It's my understanding that there is some sort of wiring problem with the cams, and more complicated than originally thought. The two strange views that CAN be seen are part of the train station and the Mulberry Street Bridge. The camera that looks right into the scrape is inside the building.
