We were so relieved when we found her yesterday. A friend and I took her to Red Creek as soon as she was rescued. This has been a season from heck. I need to stay away from this for a while.

She's crouched on the point right now awake and looking at the sky above and around. She left, then I heard light calls from her and went back in and she has prey on the point she is plucking the feathers from. So I guess we know what she was looking at up in the sky now.

Giant hugs to you, Jane...Not the outcome you wanted, but so glad you were able to rescue Red and at least give her a chance...you have got to be so tired...

fingers crossed for the remaining 2...

I will try to copy and paste something I put on the blog on Facebook. Not sure if it will work or not. If it doesn't show up in the next ten minutes, it won't. I just cannot bring myself to look at the cams much right now. And rest assured I am not the only one involved with all of this.

I am one of the volunteers, and am totally crushed by all that has happened this year in Harrisburg, I watched almost everything firsthand. There are some pictures that will be hard for my mind to erase. And unfortunately there was little those of us on watch could have done about many of the events. You cannot how much I yelled at this new female when she started attacking the juvies. Seeing Niecey struggling on the train station roof was gut-wrenching. Watching her rescue from Market Street was amazing. She is very lucky that there was little traffic. I am now going to try to get myself collected.

I am hugging you big time Jane. there are only a few of us, who have gone through seeing this, from the ground. We never want to see it but nature is, what nature is. It is nonetheless. heart wrenching. But let us be positive about the other 2. no news is good news.

Jane, I am so sorry for the losses you have experienced this year. I can't imagine, really. It's hard to even read about all of the tragedies at the Harrisburg nest. My heart goes out to you, and the others involved, in person. It has to be totally heartbreaking. Thank you for all of your efforts, all of these years, to help the falcons here. Many are alive today because of you guys. I don't see how you do it, but I'm so glad that you do. :thanku :thankyou :flowers

:hmmmm This gal sure eats a lot and at all hours of the day and night it seems! I had just checked the point and nobody there and was checking the other cams when I heard some odd cries from her and went back to the point and there she was feaking on the edges of it and opening and closing her beak (I believe she flew in with a beakfull and that's why she sounded odd) while looking around...and yes she is also watching the skies, so look out night fliers!

It's been quite awhile since I posted above, but 2:25 am finds her on the point again scanning the skies...

:hmmmm Any thoughts on this anyone?

6/21/2022 :: Are more eggs possible?
Many Falcon Cam followers continue to wonder if, with the arrival of a new female (09/BS), another clutch of eggs may be laid this summer. 09/BS is exhibiting signs of being in breeding mode which includes the bright orange color of her feet and reports that her abdomen appears slightly distended. These signs are by no means a guarantee that she will lay eggs so late in the season. The PA Game Commission has indicated the latest successful nesting of peregrine falcons in Pennsylvania was in mid-May. Clearly this situation suggests that the window on reproduction is small and closing. This is not to suggest it isn't possible - one lesson wildlife teaches is never rule out the unexpected - so continue to enjoy Falcon Cam to see how this situation plays out.

Very brief update on Niecey from Friday. Her bandage is off. PT and cage rest for another week. She was examined by a vet on Wednesday. I'm sure this is the busiest time of year for all rehabbers.

:flirty: Thanks for the report on Niecey. I really hope you get through this Niecey and are comfortable.

:15heartbeat: Just heard the female here crying and flying, probably hunting. Hope she stays safe in the night skies.

I just saw her in the scrape and 85 on the stick. I could just cry for Niecey. I know she is getting the best care possible. I cannot get the image of her struggling on the train station roof out of my head.
