:egg14: Finally came in during a feed! And there was a little mishap that what appears to be the largest/oldest chick saved the day through it's hunger. Mom was feeding, then she tried to wolf down a last large hunk that was more than she could handle. She kept trying to get it down and get it down (I was starting to grow concerned) and finally the chick reached up with it's beak and gave what was hanging out of her beak a yank freeing it. Mom decided to feed the remainder to them...

Not sure how long they've been out there, but two chicks are currently out in front of the scrape up against the shield. Third chick has the whole scrape to itself. Nice pulled back view and we can now see the stick. Swinwk, do you know that these three hatched within seven hours of each other?

Yes of course I am aware Jane there were 3 hatches in 7 hours. If you look back you'll see I brought the link from the PaDEP with a video clip of the 3 hatches within 7 hours to here. If you are trying to point out that it is impossible for me to know it was the oldest/largest chick in my post above, then how about this. It was the largest looking chick to me that also happened to have what looks to me the longest tailfeathers and therefore might be the oldest even though only hours separate them. Hours can make a difference in who is strongest 1st and gets the advantage. Currently the chicks are asleep in the nest and Mom is atop the rear wall of the nest preening.

About half an hour ago Niner came trotting down the ledge with a small prey and took it into the scrape. One chick was at the scrape entrance and Niner started feeding it. Another chick sort of went over to the scrape but did not go in to be fed. The third chick was content to stay put at the window. She seems to often do small feedings, so maybe there will be another one before dark.

All chicks out on the big ledge. Two at the bad window, and one behind the orange post. It is very hot here today. Almost 90. Even hotter on Friday and then cooling off with hopefully some much needed rain.

Have been watching off and on for several minutes and could only see 2/3 chicks on the ledge. Kept waiting for 3rd to come out of hiding and finally a parent arrived to the ledge with a prey delivery that 1 chick took to the wall. After a few short minutes, finally the 3rd chick came out. So 2 by the orange pole and the 1 is still standing by the building.

I thought I'd be treated to the chicks dancing in the rain. I remember 2008 Green Girl dancing in the rain. To be fair, she either fledged or was ready to fledge. A couple of weeks older than these are. :egg19:

We just had a pretty good thunderstorm here in Harrisburg. Vivid lightning, loud thunder, and a downpour with wind. Was watching to see how the chicks would react. Two of them were out far enough on the ledge to get
totally soaked, and having a blast flapping their wings in the rain. The third chick was not impressed and spent its time as close to the building as possible. This is the first time they have experienced rain.

Am just now seeing pictures of storm damage from last night in various areas in and around Harrisburg. Some huge trees uprooted and large branches snapped off. Some areas had golf ball sized hail. That storm came in from the north, so the worst part of it would have hit the back side of the Carson Building.

So sorry to hear that, Jane!! Golf ball sized hail? That's no joke!! Glad that the ledge didn't take a direct hit...everything ok at your place?

I can't get the cam...are the chicks ok?

We lucked out here at my house. Didn't have hail or trees falling. Just a bunch of leaves and twigs to clean up, but we were grateful for the rain.

Bummer that you cannot get the cams, SGB. I know of another person that can't either, but she is in Canada. At the moment two chicks are huddled up against the bad window behind the orange post and the third is at the back door of the scrape. I had no storm damage here. Front Street in Harrisburg was closed earlier today due to a HUGE uprooted tree. Had it fallen the other way it would have hit a house.
