I am bogged down thi s year. just cannot keep up.

Same here, Bev...

I posted the "slip" on their FB page...but, must be one of those pages that requires approval before it actually posts publicly...as my post, with pics has disappeared. Hopefully the two out of the box are OK.

NEWS IN LANSING MICH! 2 more babies at BWL. at our Erickson Plant that is 8 miles as a crow flies from our Eckert Plant property. i posted a photo on LANSING MICHIGAN FACEBOOK PAGE. anyone with copy paste ability is welcome to add my photo on here. they are 3 weeks old.

In 2010 we built a 2nd nesting box and placed it out at our Erickson Plant on S. Canal Rd. Fast forward to 2022, BWL employees asked me about a month ago what to do about aggression of the falcons as our staff performs maintenance in the area and what thoughts I had. I guessed there must be eggs or hatchlings.

June 3
I visited the plant and was able to see 3 eggs in the nesting box. The adults were close by and I was able to see bands on one of the two, and by the time the 2nd one circles around I wasn’t sure if I saw bands on both of them.

June 4
BWL discussion in consideration to installing an Erickson FalconCam.

June 9
A visit to Erickson again to find a good place to install one. I could see mom nestling and sort of doing what I call a shimmy, which is when an egg has a pip and/or a chick is hatched.

June 28
I visited the roof and was able to see 2 hatched!!!
Stay tuned!

And why so late in the season?

Hi DINA...actually, two eggs hatched in their first clutch, but both chicks mysteriously died..so, they reclutched and 2 of the 3 eggs hatched!! So far, so good with the two little ones.

Personally, I don't think I've ever seen that before. We've seen rare reclutches before, but I can't recall a time when a pair has had a second clutch after there were hatches in the first clutch.

Congrats on your new Erikson babies....and here you thought you could rest up!!!

Thanks SgB for your post, you are right about the BBB (New Jersey) site (rare reclutches).

:girlcrazy: Dina-2023 might be a tad busy for you!
