Camera seems to be running much better. They're so laid back ... can't decide on what they are ... boys or girls or one of each!

Quote:
Update July 2011
The young eagles, are in the process of fledging, which involves the mastering of flight and dealing with all of the natural hazards of flying in an urban environment. Unfortunately the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified on July 12, 2011 that one of the fledgling eagles was found dead near the nest tree with no visible injuries to indicate how the bird died. A law enforcement agent form the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service picked up the eagle, and a necropsy is planned to determine the cause of death As additional information is obtained, a posting with appear on this website. As mentioned, fledging time for any bird has high mortality risks associated with it. The remaining nest mate seems to have mastered basic flying 101 and may depart the nest soon or continue to use it as a temporary feeding and roosting site. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife appreciates the cooperation and vigilance of all the private landowners in the area who have come to know this bald eagle family and consider them part of the greater community.

GREAT CATCH Beth! Looking right into the cam!

An adult male eagle was struck by a bus on the 520 floating bridge on Aug 2nd. The 520 bridge spans Lake Washington. There are two nests nearby and it is unknown which nest was his. I'm not sure of the exact location of this nest but it it is on Lake Washington.

That's good to know kitten. Local folks called him Eddie and he used to sit on the light posts on the west side of the bridge. I read today that it's believed he was the resident male at the Broadmoor Golf Course in Seattle.
