Went down today to Connowingo and the eagles were likely still at their post new years eve party as i only saw one male perched in a tree for the two hours i was there who was joined briefly by a larger female and a fly by by a sub adult who didnt stay at all

Image

I think this is a female based on her more full figure

Well, I'm all confused this morning. I know I saw someone post a question about one of the nests listed on the WildEarth site ... where Hornby and Sidney, etc. are. The only name given on the list of cams for it is "Eagles4Kids". It kinda of looks like/reminds one of the Ft. St. Vrain nest.

So, I was reading the info. on the cam page which is as follows ....

Quote:
Eagles4kids.com was created by third and fourth graders from Blair-Taylor Elementary School. The project was funded through a STEM grant from the State of Wisconsin. The grant money needed to be used for science, technology, engineering or mathematics curriculum, or multiple curriculums.

Mike Lawrence, their teacher, had watched a nest with his students for several years in California and decided to put a camera above an eagle's nest in the local area. The students have created the name and design of the webpage, made brochures and business cards to promote the project, and will be creating newsletters with the latest news on the nest. The students will also be responsible for maintaining the webpage and responding to all inquires. We hope you enjoy the view!

The live view of the Bald Eagle's nest through eagles4kids.com is located in Western Wisconsin on private land. The nest is about 17 miles from the Mississippi River and close to the Black River. The nest was built five years ago in a cottonwood tree along a trout stream. Eaglets have been raised in the nest for each of the last five years. The nest has an approximate diameter of 5 feet and is about 4 feet deep. The camera is installed 4 feet above the nest.

So, the nest is actually in Wisconsin. But, alas, I didn't know where to post this!!

Good place for now I was starting to wonder about if there was going to be Eagles or not but yesterday I finally saw that something was there and then I found little birds there pecking around so it just seems like a waiting game to catch the eagles

Thanks for researching that nest, Patti. I'm so behind here, so you've saved me some time. (Agreed, this is the best place to post it.)

I like that name a lot, LE, and the meaning behind it. :loveheart2: I wonder if there's some way we can find out for sure about the date.
