Delta 2 Eagle Nest

Image

Video: New Delta Eagle Nest

Here’s the story: One of the eagles was monitoring the rush-hour traffic. Suddenly, he flew off to ticket a speeder. ;) You can see him in the upper left hand corner of the video.

You can watch this cam at night, too.

Watch the cam on Wild Earth or Hancock Live Cams page

Video: Welcome Home Delta O.W.L. Bald Eagles 2011

These eagles have made frequent trips to their nest, bringing grasses and branches. In the last clip of this video, the Eagle in the nest calls out. And from a distance you can hear the other responding.

They haven’t had an easy life. In 2009 they laid two eggs and neither hatched. In 2010 their nest was completely destroyed by a storm.

1st egg today for Delta2 eagle, Hancock. (Not Delta O.W.L.) I'm confused. This nest is also near the Tsawwassen Ferry but it's a different nest. Am I posting in the correct place?

I'm pretty sure this is the O.W.L. nest, and the #1 and #2 refer to the cams . . . ? I will look into it later to be sure.

Thanks for the news, Mick!

My video is from the OWL nest, which has two cams. The Delta 2 nest has one cam. And the Delta 1 nest is no longer streamed.

Delta OWL Nest

Video: Each Delta Nest Has an Egg in It?

I recorded this video earlier tonight, after I read your message, Mick. I sure thought the Delta OWL eagle was incubating an egg. She was in the nest long after dark in the rain, just sitting there. Then she rose up and poked her beak in the grass beneath her.

About twenty minutes after I posted the video to YouTube, the Delta OWL eagle left the nest! :o (Delta 2 eagle remained)

Delta 2 Diary Delta 2 Diary for March 5

The eagle was away from 2:15 to 4:26 PM (local time). I think that may have been Mom the whole time on the nest but can't be sure. The pictures look a little different, but in the bottom one the head is raised -- on alert.

The second egg was laid this morning, according to viewers in the Hancock forum. I thought a second might have been laid on that rainy night because Mom was sort of undulating, which looked like labor. But I was wrong. (unless today is the THIRD egg)

Thanks for helping us sort out these nests, beans. I've revised the first post on this thread to include both nests (O.W.L. and #2), all 3 cam links and locations.

Edit: I've got Delta #2 with 2 eggs (3/3 & 3/6) and Delta OWL with none.

Video: Sunday Afternoon in the Nest

A quiet afternoon, no intruders, no eggs to incubate, no demanding eaglets to feed. Just Mom and Dad spending some quality time together.
