Do you know about the Barn Owl Cam in Dorset, England? I was just checking on the Dorset Kestrel Cam, but it appears to have been replaced by the Barn Owl Cam.

Here's a picture of the owls this morning:

And here's the link: http://www.dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/raptorcam.html

:clapegg: Hey look HOP has the camera outside this time
so we can see the babies
:clapegg:

April 23 , 2010: These chicks in the process of fledging. We have turned on a camera
that is just outside the box. The camera inside the box has become very dirty from
the owl's activity and cannot be cleaned until they leave the box for good. Meanwhile,
one of the fledgling owls ended up on the ground and is at WildCare for evaluation.
There are Great Horned Owls in the neighborhood and they may have launched an
attack on the Barn Owls, the Great Horned is a fierce predator of just about
any animal up to the size of a skunk!

Hi, :bonnet: I am new today. Have been reading around the site looking for posts regarding my comments and answers and haven't seen any yet so I thought i would post. First, I am happy to find this forum, it's fantastic!!!! Please forgive me if I am writing this in the wrong place as I am still trying to feel my way around here.

I follow Starr Ranch and the 2 that I have listed here and peek in on all the others.

It appears that Barn Owl Trust has laid their first for the year today !!!! YAY!!!! :loveshow: I hope thay are all healthy and safe this year. Poor owls have such a hard life.

2nd... I have been watching the little stone owls with interest and am really curious about the dove who has laid an egg there. I have been trying out the translator and haven't yet seen anything written about it, so am wondering what impact it may have on the owls. Also, the dove doesn't seem to be sitting on it, so I wonder if it will even be viable. She seems to be guarding the egg and opening, but allows the owl mom to be with her eggs. Seems they are living in harmony, they have an agreement???? I wish someone would come onto the site with some answers, or maybe they really don't have any, or maybe I am not seeing them. Thank you.

:grwelcom Seahorse!!! It is great to have another owl lover here...I have moved your original post to here (BARN OWLS, 2010)...And thanks for the great news about BOT!!!...It just so happens I have a pic...

Image

About the Stone owl at Beleef de Lente, I have no clue what is going on and I see no mention of the pigeon...It looks like the pigeon is still working on the nest as I watched it bring in a stick. I'm even curious as to whether this is even her egg...there was an egg in the alcove before the Stone Owl even started laying..I guess time will tell...

You will also notice that we have 2 other owl forums~one for GREAT HORNED OWLS and one for MISC OTHER OWLS. Its a tad confusing and we'll set up the owls differently for next year...

Again, Welcome...and please let us know if you have any questions!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I fell more comfortable here in my place all snuggled in, now that you moved me  .

I keep thinking that maybe one of the clips at the Stone Owl site might show who laid the egg, especially since no one seems to be sitting on it and claiming it. They always seem to be so good at keeping up with clips, maybe because it's a weekend. Also, the mom owl has laid her 3rd egg sometime within the past couple of hours. Wonder how many she will have this year. Looks like she wants a potty break now but won't leave when the dove is at the door. Poor thing is a captive. I loved watching them last year, they were so adorable and had such personality. They were they first ones I watched from hatch to fledge. The BOT I came in on after hatching. Thanks for the picture!!!

Welcome Seahorse! You are in good company here with many barn owl fans. At the Cobb Island falcon nest we've had a barn owl try to share the falcon box, which has been pretty interesting. Now they have their own box.
