Great catch, Kitten! That must be Beauty since it was reported some weeks ago that Archer had migrated.

I was thinking that because of the rosey coloring but I don't watch this one so
much so didn't want to say & sound stupid.

Wow!!! Great catch with both there, Dorien. I guess Archer didn't migrate after all . . . or maybe he just took a quick trip and came right back because he missed Beauty.

Great catch, Dorien! I don't know that these PFs are Beauty & Archer, & after looking at the Rochester forum, they apparently don't know what to think either. The female in the picture doesn't have the rosy chest coloring of Beauty, & I thought that maybe that coloring doesn't show up in Winter plumage, but the picture Kitten got of Beauty a couple of weeks ago showed a rosy chest. For all I know, these 2 could be Mariah & Kaver (although that's highly unlikely). I did see from Dorien's video that the female is banded, so maybe one of the Rochester people will be able to figure out who she is. :ny4:

Now this one sure appears to have a rosy chest, so this would be Beauty! :ny5:

They were obviously trying to read the bands here:

I remember that too Mick but wasn't it later in the year and closer to nesting season as Archer showed up not long after? I know that site has alot of falcons going through it and there is usually a couple that hangs out there in the winter although they could be the new couple at the other site nearby. It's a very busy area for falcons, takes a very strong bird to hold that territory.

Edit to add: Wow I just checked out the side by side comparison of Kaver and this tiercel...holy! :o Seriously, scroll down this page to see it, uncanny!

Carly, I couldn't find the side by side pic yesterday or today (?). If I remember correctly, Beauty's visitor showed up in Feb last year and Archer, just after, in March.

Thanks Carly--I do see it now. I think Kaver looks like Roosevelt at Ft. Wayne. Are Kaver & Roosevelt brothers? I know there are many relatives among the falcons we watch, but I don't remember that. Unfortunately, I wasn't watching when Mariah & Kaver were nesting & I feel like I really missed out on something special! :-(

There was also an interesting YT upload from Dumpsterkitty15 of Beauty chasing off the male after he entered her nest. " Not so quick, Buddy"

This tiercel really does look like Kaver. I've seen that white above the cere come & go on Harrisburg Lil Dad, so I don't think that is a reliable identifier. Actually, I don't know of any definite identifiers anymore except bands (& maybe anatum coloring, although I'm not even sure of that).
