Mama loon called an alarm when it landed, called again.

This loon mama has 2 eggs due to hatch tomorrow
As funny as this looks, the GBH will eat her chick.

Dad remains on brother egg, chuppin up a storm.
The 2 are already fighting and one is still in egg jail. :egg11:

July 10, 2023 Monday
1 chick hatched Saturday and the other Sonday afternoon.
Early today it seemed the little family were heading out - for the brooding area - but they turned back.

2 pm they're swimming just outside loon sanctuary.

Dad with both chicks, one is under his wing - by raft

Family heads out - I thought - mabye not....

Back in the day Shep we watched a
Pacific Loon cam (Connors Lake) ~ Cam host and Anchorage Audubon Society
enthusiast Jean Tam started the site in 2003.
This loon nest was in Anchorage, Alaska and had a great nest canopy!

Look back in the archive/search button for Loons (Pacific) around 2010-2013...

6 am Mom n Dad loon and both chicks.
I took a couple more snapshots.

The loon famiy spent the night just beyond the LOON sign.
I am amused mom almost regards the sign as a shelter.
Boats have been passing - one of them WAY TOO FAST.
