Happy Fall everyone. :leafwave: I wanted to try posting my 1st pic from PB and thought this a good spot to practice while sharing a cam shot I took on 10/22 from the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. I was fortunate to catch a tender moment between the 67 yr old matriarch, Shirley (left) and the much younger Tarra (right) outside the Asia barn. I think Tarra was looking for some TLC, as she repeatedly backed submissively into Shirley, who reciprocated with lots of trunk stroking. I love these girls and this place. A wonderful sanctuary for retired circus & zoo elephants that have often been abused or injured.

67 yr old Shirley at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee figured out a way to stand evenly on all four legs. Her right back leg was broken 30 yrs ago by another elephant when she was in the circus. It healed in a bent position. This leg is shorter than the rest and she often stands with full weight on only 3 legs at a time when on level ground. Well...last week she found a depression in the ground near the Asian Barn. She placed her 3 good legs in the depression and rested the shorter leg on the edge where the ground was higher. This allowed her to take a standing nap with her weight evenly distributed on all four legs. Amazing that she figured this out. I saw her do this 2 days in a row. She is such a survivor. I just love her. :flirty: Courtesy of the Elephant Sanctuary cam.
