OVERHEAD CAM NEW 2019
CAM
Nest Location: Kissimmee, Florida in the Brownie Wise Park on Tupperware Island Conservation Area. About 20 miles south of Orlando

"In 2016 with the support and encouragement of Osceola County Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Osceola County Parks and Information Technology Departments, work began on establishing a live camera at a Bald eagle nest in Osceola County. A well- known and easily accessible nest was chosen at Brownie Wise Park on Tupperware Island Conservation Area to make this happen. This popular Osceola County park can be found along the northern reaches of Lake Toho and within visual distance of the County Court House and downtown Kissimmee.

Osceola County Parks welcomes you to watch the live feed, as well as the recorded significant events that occur at this wild Bald eagle nest site. We encourage you to visit our nest camera site frequently to see what these magnificent birds are up to, especially between the months of November and July each year, when they are nesting."

:rudolf: Obviously, full incubation is in progress and saw egg rolling and lining up the brood patch. In going back on the DVR, I never was able to see 2 eagles at the same time, just 1 leaving and 1 coming within a couple minutes usually. Can't even be sure if they were different eagles. If this is the only view of the nest, it will be quite some time before we could see an eaglet popping it's head up. It is a PTZ cam and the cam op did scan down the tree and surroundings. But never was there a view into the bowl.

Thanks, SWINWK! I saw one of them incubating but couldn’t see much of anything. :loveshow:

:1snowman: Loosely scanning the DVR, I was unable to catch the nest exchanges, but incubation continues. I wish we had a better view of them.

:1snowman: Incubation continues. Couldn't find a nest exchange when loosely scanning the DVR for today. Another windy day here.

 I believe all is well. Each place I stopped the DVR, I saw an eagle incubating or as it is once again a very, windy, day I saw limbs obscuring the view or many times the cam was aimed just above the nest. But, someone is there now as the sun sets.

:rudolf: Very windy most of the day, but settled some later. Mom was incubating and Dad came in with food (although I never saw it) to the right side of the nest at 1618 and Mom gets up to eat. Dad left. You couldn't see what she was eating, but she was going through the motions of one eating and her beak became bloody. At 1625, Dad returns to incubate and Mom leaves after eating. At 1724, Dad gets up and maybe takes a couple bites of what he brought in earlier, then flies. Mom in at 1725 and gets in the bowl. Dad back at 1752, Mom stands and because it's so late, I begin to doubt my ID's of them as I would not expect the female to leave at this time of night. And she doesn't as Dad flies right back out and in a bit she settles back in the bowl. Guess he was just making his final check on his family at the nest, before leaving to go perch for the night to sleep.

:7val: This is not definite by any means, but I am wondering if we are near a hatch here. A few times today, I thought I saw some subtle looking and listening when going back on the DVR. The 1st time was at the end of the 11:00 minute and I remember another time was maybe a little past 11:30, but I thought I could see some of this behavior through out the rest of the day. Definitely noticed more movement, rotation over the bowl. This is the most difficult nest I've watched as far as being able to continuously observe the follow-through of an action. Many times the nest and eagle lying in the nest swing completely out of view with the wind and swaying of the cam. The top of the nest and the eagle lying in the bowl are at the very bottom on the screen, so it doesn't take much. Patience is a requirement when viewing this nest. Hoping when there is a hatch, someone will see eggshell being tossed out of the bowl! And we'll know for sure when we see a feed!

Thanks for keeping an eye on this nest - and all the others you report on. We all appreciate it!

:snowgirl: gigi! Today it is more difficult to follow as some foliage is obscuring. I really have not seen any activity so far. Incubation continues!

:1snowman: At 1316, I could see Mom flying off after nest exchange. And later in the day at 1744 with darkness starting to fall, I saw who I assume is Dad doing his last nest check of the day and he flies within the minute.

:holsad: Very windy again today. Unable to go back on DVR except about 4 minutes, past that and it is showing yesterday ... maybe cam was out this morning, I don't know. Incubation continues as I see a head at times.

:holsad: Difficulty with the cam continues as there is less than 1 1/2 hours footage today only showing late morning and early afternoon. The nest seemed higher up on the screen though. Incubation continues, from what little I was able to view.

:shockedsanta: When I go full-screen, "trip in the 60's" is what comes to mind today. Have been in several times, but it remains very difficult to discern much, will report at the end of the day. I know all is well with the nest and the eagles are fine, but what a "hot mess cam-view"!! They are a great couple and I worry they won't have any followers here. :rudolf:

 I've decided I might not be able to even detect a feed here. One thing I noticed is one of them landed on the nest 2 or 3 times within minutes and the other one would not budge from the bowl in the 9 o'clock hour. Viewing seems to be calmer right after sunrise and right before sunset as far as the swaying goes.

:1snowman: View overall was a little better today. Saw nest exchanges, egg rolling, looks at egg/eggs.

 Did not get to see much today going back on the DVR. It only showed about 2 1/2 hours from this morning, then jumped ahead 7 hours. Incubation, looking in bowl and aerating bowl continues.
