:15heartbeat: Saw several feeds today, but still unable to say there is more than 1 chick. The 1st hatched was able to raise it's head a little higher today. Saw both Mom and Dad at nest exchanges. Saw 1 of them on the branch that is above and to the right of the nest when the cam ventured there. At that time, I don't think the other 1 was on the nest. During the 2 o'clock hour, the cam-op took control and you could tell about how far away the cam is from the tree. They looked at their equipment and cables and saw more of the area and lake. They got closer to the nest than usual and I think they tried to get it at a level to see more downward to the nest, but real windy at the time. I do think it is in a little better position than earlier today. Hoping tomorrow I will see a 2nd chick as I feel if there, it hatched on that real rainy afternoon, that eve, or night. We should be able to see it over the next day or two, surely!

Thanks SWINWK. I hope the operators can get a better angle.

:15heartbeat: Saw several feeds this morning, but the viewing conditions are poor. Hoping it will calm down later today. I'm afraid a new cam set-up is the only answer here ...

:shockedsanta: At 17:13, there seems to be a mishap of some sort with the cam ... hoping this is not permanent.

:girlsad3: Not sure how this is going to play out. I've only seen a cam op take control 2-3 times since I have been here. So, I am unsure how often they check the cam.

:imbored: Sent a message per chat feedback about the cam, but don't know if it will get to the appropriate source.

:1val: Just talked with Chris, a forester in Osceola. They are aware of the current problem with the cam. He did drive to the location when he became aware to see if the branch the cam was mounted on had broken, the cam was physically damaged, etc, but that was not the case. Work tickets have been put in to IT dept. He said hopefully it will be as simple as a reset, if major repair ... money will come into play, if work at site needed of course they will not be able to access till the off season. Warning this may not be a quick fix as in a reset, but something of a more serious nature. I learned they had 2 hatches here another season. The reason the horizon (of the nest level) changes is d/t this cam is mounted on an angular branch of the old nest tree that is located 100 yards away from the current nest tree and they are unable to get a straight shot in. The eagles chose a new nest site after the previous one was damaged in a storm. Also, owls have taken the nest in the past for their use. He said there are many nests in this area. Next year they may trim some branches from the tree to get a better view. They may mount the cam on an osprey platform that would not blow in the wind and be a stable support with a straight shot to the nest. The site may go down even as early as today, because they do not want to disappoint people who are trying to get in to see the eagles. But, they will bring it back up if repairable when they can. Regardless, we need to keep checking if it goes down as it may come back up. Hoping we get to see this wonderful eagle family still this season. If not, I hope they are able to get the funds approved and work completed before next season. Just an FYI, I am relaying this from memory and hopefully all of what I said is accurate and I did not leave anything out. :teehee:

:eggthumb: An eagle spent the night on the nest tree sleeping with it's head tucked mostly. It went to the nest at 6:01 and aerated, then laid down at 6:03, stood at 6:28 and aerated. The 2nd eagle flies in to the nest at 6:29 with a stick in it's beak and they place it to the rails and adjust. The 2nd eagle appears to be the male, so it was the female who spent the night. They aerated together, then stood a bit. The male went to a branch at 6:31. He flew at 6:32, She watched him then went to the same branch seconds later. He returned with another stick at 6:34 and worked with it to get it so-so on the rails. Something in the distance seemed to get his attention, she walked up the branch at 6:35 and seconds later he flew out from the nest. She flew out at 6:37.

:newegg: Mom had last contraction at 17:22! Mom let egg air, she picked up the remains of a fish in the bowl at 17:52 and laid it back down again. Dad arrived at 17:53 and saw his egg for the first time and just couldn't get enough of it as he fiddled with it in the bowl. He incubated at 17:56. He stood at 18:02 and Mom seems to want to get to the egg. He picked up the fish remains from the bowl at 18:04 and flew out with it. Mom begins incubation at 18:05. Even though the sun has set awhile ago, you can still observe her incubating as it is a cloudy night.

:buzzybee: Ferenz, nope. :teehee: Had to go with how she handled the contractions and her behavior and his after the egg was laid. I saw on the chat, there may be a 2nd camera placed, but don't know if they will since the egg has been laid or even if that information is accurate.

:eggthumb: They were off the nest some, but could have just been out of cam view. Otherwise, they shared incubation today. Mom is on the nest tonight and can currently be seen.
