:loveheart: To see an example of Connie's feed, go to 4:16 pm and start watching.(She actually got up at 4:14 to feed, but didn't come back into the frame till 4:16 when she hoovers near by with the bite for the chick a couple of times, but doesn't come close to actually give it.) Then at 4:17 she does begin to feed. The bites are large, but thankfully the chick is stronger today and is able to grab and pull better without falling all over the place and removes bits of the bite she is offering and even grabbing it whole sometimes and able to swallow the bigger pieces now, but still must work for it. I think she gave 1 bite that was small and placed it in the chick's beak which is an improvement too. She gave a total of 3-4 pieces eventually and then stopped the feed, although the chick is still standing and I believe wanted more. Nonetheless, this is an improvement from yesterday and so happy to see the chick getting stronger!

:flirty: CE9 survived Connie's feeding technique and is 16 d/o now!. It has been named "Connick" in honor of Connor and Nick who built this nest in the same nest tree after hurricane Ian destroyed Connie and Clive's previous nest!

:flirty: Connick turned 43 days old within the last hour and has started spending the night alone on the nest although a parent is probably nearby, just not seen on cam.

Do bald eagles delay incubation?
RRP 2016 - bald eagles in Iowa usually lay eggs in temperatures well under freezing! However, this year was quite a bit warmer, and the eagles in Decorah and Fort St. Vrain seemed to spend more time off the first two eggs than we are used to.
