:mooncat: Pa made 7 visits to the nest today beginning early this morning and nestorations continue. Mom came in on this visit. During these visits he brought in 2 sticks, 1 pine bough and 1 fluff delivery. Mom came in 1st on their last visit before dark. Pa flew out for the day at 7:53 and Mom flew out for the day seconds later in the same minute. Vocals could be heard at least once this evening since their departure and Rocky was out and about on the nest and he seemed to hop over a limb and skedaddled when he heard them.

:mooncat: Pa to the nest 6 times today and Mom 3. Both brought sticks at times. Nestorations continue.

:mooncat: It was a very busy day with multiple visits from both with nestorations or just simply hanging out. Sticks and fluff deliveries were made and Pa even brought Mom a fish that she noticed from afar as he was flying in and arrived screeching on his tailfeathers and snatched it away from him to eat. She was here something like a couple hours or so after she ate. Both were in before dark, although not together.

:mooncat: Another busy day especially for Pa with 7 visits to the nest. Sticks and fluff were brought in with some of these visits. While Mom only made 1 visit this afternoon and with a stick that Pa promptly took and placed, it was also meaningful as she spent almost 2 hours on the nest. She laid in the bowl some too.

:shock Owl attack on Pa Berry early this morning by Bel-a-Donna:

Excerpt from Bel: "Dad Berry flew in just before 6:00am; an owl lands on the back branch and Dad chases it off; shortly after, the owl swoops in once to attack Dad. All is well with Mr. Berry, he stands guard for about an hour then flies out."

:mooncat: Another big day for Pa and Mom. See above for the owl attack 1st thing this morning on Pa. Otherwise, he brought in a squirrel earlier today and actually was eating it when she flew in and he walked away from it and she didn't grab it to eat right away. In fact she did a little aeration and nest work 1st and after quite awhile she started eating on it slowly. On a later visit when she came in and she caught Pa eating on it, she whined softly till he gave it up and she ate. And finally after their day was done filled with the bringing of sticks and fluff and nestorations, Pa returned this evening after dark as if he thought someone was messing around his nest tree. He remained for quite sometime on the nest looking around before flying back out into the dark and rejoining Mom as their vocals could be heard when he reached where they are roosting tonight. Some very light rain had trickled about prior to his leaving, so maybe it will pick up through the night and keep the owl away as they can not fly well in the rain.

:mooncat: Both were in and out today. Sticks and nestorations continue. Pa did bring in the remains of an unknown mammal for Mom and awaited her arrival. She did eventually show up and ate.

:5val: Another day of at least some nestorations with sticks being brought in on the later visits. The 1st few visits were rather quiet. Plenty of aeration though to the bowl today. Mom spent quite awhile on the nest later in the day and awhile after Pa joined her, she signaled him for a mating from the left branch and even though he was down on the nest, he wasted no time in hopping right up there mounting her and obliging! They have been chattering from their roosts tonight and while we can't see them back there at least we can hear them.

:flirty: Pa made 7 visits to the nest today and Mom made 3. A couple were overlapping. Apparently Pa came in to the nest tree in the middle of the night per Bel, that I did not get to see and this would count as his 1st visit for the day. They had a lot of chatter last evening and into the wee hours and I think at least partly this is due to them seeing something in the area such as an owl. And owls are what usually cause Pa to come to the nest tree during the night as he does not want anyone messing around their nest or nest tree. No food brought in today, but sticks and fluff were for continued nestorations. Pa's last visit right before dark was a nest check as he came in 1 minute and flew out in the next.

:flirty: Their nestorations continue and both were in and out today. Pa did bring a food gift for Mom and she flew in on his tailfeathers for the delivery to eat. In addition to their morning visits Pa came in a couple times this afternoon to glean any bits Mom left from her meal. He did not come in for his usual last nest check visit before dark, however Mom did come just before dark in hopes of gleaning any bits she had left of her meal, but Pa had already pretty well gleaned that up from the floor. Rocky was in many times this evening.

:loveheart2: Another busy day of nestorations for Pa and Mom with fluff and stick deliveries. Pa also brought in a possible coot for Mom this morning. And 1 mating could be heard earlier today from the rear that happened after one of their visits to the nest. Mom left and Pa was right on her coattails as she flew out. He followed her to the rear and immediately mating vocals could be heard and as soon as they stopped, you could see Pa fly downward from the left and toward the right and out of sight! Rocky has also been very active on the nest earlier this evening.

:flirty: More busy work prepping their nest for eggs. We are within 3 days of when her 1st egg laid last season on the 5th. The egg cup was dug out just a little deeper today. Pa did bring in remains of some mammal and dumped it in the egg cup on arrival, he waited and when Mom didn't show right away he did partially cover it with fluff. Later he came back in and ate on it. Mom arrived, but she allowed him to continue eating and waited awhile before she started in with her low vocals letting him know she wanted it. She did that several times. After Pa finished she waited a bit before going over to eat. Seemed to be mainly hide by this time. They both came in a bit before dark tonight for the last nest check of the day. Rocky has been in this evening.

:flirty: More nestorations today and Pa did bring something in to be eaten between the two that was pelted it seemed. They did stop by for the evening nest check. It is now the 3rd and Mom laid the 1st egg on the 5th last year. So, far she has not spent any nights on the nest or nest tree as she did last season.

:flirty: Both fluff and sticks were brought in today. Really busy morning working on the nest between the two. They had some visits this afternoon also. The last visit of the day was slightly earlier than usual with Pa bringing in a food gift and she came in on his tailfeathers screaming the whole way. Pa left shortly after, but she stayed to finish her meal before flying out for the night.

:flirty: Not near the activity they normally do in a day. But, it has rained and rained and still raining now. They were in this morning early for a little bowl aeration and then Pa returned late this afternoon with prey, but Mom did not come in and it remains on the nest.

:flirty: One of the busiest days I've seen here, I guess they needed to get the nest back in tip-top shape after all that rain yesterday. Sticks, pine bough, double fluff deliveries and Pa even found time to bring in a squirrel for Mom. She did eat the prey left on the nest in the rain yesterday too, today. Pa had some of each also. They did come in for their last nest check and were there a little while after the IR came on. We heard a turkey gobble below the nest earlier today and heard geese flying over the nest this evening and Rocky has shown up too. Just waiting for that 1st egg to be laid.

:flirty: Both were in today, but not quite as busy as yesterday and it even managed to rain a little more this afternoon. They did come by a little early for the nightly nest check. Rocky was out and about early this evening.
