so that other egg will no thatch. maybe because half of other shell covered it. but in a way, this is good as female here had time to learn how to feed.
It is a rain snow mix here since last night but all is well .

doing very well here. Dad brings in what is needed. and female has learned to feed. One chick is enough this year, as she was still a bit uncertain at beginning. I think 2 would have thrown her off

dad in with fish, female leaves to side and dad feeds. Female back in and takes over. you can see, she is still learning to give smaller pieces. One chick is enough for her this year.

So nice to see this wee one thrive.

Things going well, but yesterday the female defended against intruder. Dad was not in view all day as there were a couple of juveniles in the area.

Thanks, gigi!! B15 and the Mom had lots to eat as Pa brought in 2 squirrels (both headless I think) and 1 headless fish. So Pa enjoyed heads today and Mom downed a whole tail with end piece amongst other bites I saw her enjoy while feeding the youngun. Pa also did some of the feeding to B15 today. Mom and B15 have been sleeping close to each other all evening, with the little one sometimes even snuggled against her.

Mom was knocked off the left branch last night while she was sleeping by a GHO at 11:48. She returned on high alert and very vocal in less than 1 minute. No obvious injuries noted. B15 woke up and raised it's head initially, but then remained flattened. Pa did not come to the tree and interestingly, there were no return vocals heard. Video by Donna Nickerson:



On a lighter note, Pa has already brought in 2 fish this morning. The 1st one was a whopper!

no feeds yet today as of 2:38 bu t then there is only one eaglet. I fine it left alone a lo t more , although I know adults are no t far away.

I think they had a possible intruder in the area this afternoon as Mom came in alerting and continued alerting after arrival to the nest. You could hear her well before she arrived. B15 also heard the distant alerts as she was making haste toward her nest and looked toward the direction Mom was flying in from. After she was in the nest and with the continued alerts, B15 slowly but surely took the flattened position. Mom kept watching something out from the nest to the left. When she relaxed after awhile as did B15, it was not too long before Pa arrived @ about 3:37 with a large fish. B15 immediately mantled, not over the fish, but so near it you understood it's attempt. And the mantle was over in a flash. Pa stirred around a little as Mom was making arrangements to feed. Then he seemed to notice something away from the nest toward the left and abruptly flew out clipping Mom a little as he did not have enough height yet to clear her. She watched after him, then fed B15 the fish with a few nibbles for herself. Mom is currently on the left branch with her head tucked sleeping and B15 is sleeping in the dipped area on the nest.
