:mooncat: After being a no show yesterday, both seen today. Pa was in this morning and laid in the bowl for awhile. Then she came in early this afternoon for a visit and shortly after she left he made a return visit. Pa returned for the evening visit at 6:22 and stood awhile before trying out the bowl again. He was standing when a loud truck horn or something blew and he about jumped out of his feathers. He flew for the night from the left branch at 7:12.

:mooncat: Pa came in this morning for a quick visit, then he returned shortly, but no supplies to work brought in on either visit. The main story with this 2nd visit is he stayed for 5 hours and 23 minutes before flying out. He stood around a lot on the nest and he laid in the bowl several times. Mom did not show up till this evening for a 4 minute visit. She had been away from the nest for well over 24 hours. She only aerated a little as she did not bring any work supplies either.

:sum5: Pa launches a surprise mount and mate at 10:19 on the nest! :teehee:

Edit to add: He wasn't eager to dismount and nearly ground himself into the floor of the nest before he fell off...

In addition to the above, they were busy with their usual nestorations this morning and sticks and fluff were brought in to work with. They spent quite a bit of time here this morning. Pa returned at 5:37 to the nest this evening with a headless fish for Mom. He took it to the left rear of the nest and left it. He mainly stood away from the fish and waited for her to show, but she did not come in. Pa went to the left branch at 6:00 and flew out for the night at 6:01. There have been some vocals from where they perch at night that could be heard from the nest. Also, Rocky showed up about the rear rails several minutes ago around 9:11 and shot up the rear central limb, then back down it below the nest. And in the same minute Rocky returns from under the nest and messed around the right side of that central branch and limb, then went back up it and out of sight and BAM...Rocky went for a glide through the air on the left side and out of sight to another limb or tree! He or she may return later for a fish dinner. Invite your buddies, Rocky!

:mooncat: They were a no show this evening, but Pa came in this morning early per chat and ate the fish that he had brought in for Mom last night that she never showed up to eat. Both worked on the nest this morning with an emphasis on the bowl and nest floor with Pa going on to make 2 fluff deliveries and Mom 1. He also brought in a stick to place. It's been quiet so far this evening as there has not been any chatter in the distance either.

:mooncat: They skipped their usual early am visit, but Pa did come in late this am with a stick to place. He only stayed a few minutes before flying out. He returned a little before dark this evening with Mom arriving a minute later They did some bowl aeration together, then stood. Mom flew out about 5 minutes before Pa, both for the night.

:mooncat: This is for the last 2 days. Pa came in early yesterday morning to do a little work on the nest and after he left Mom paid a visit to do some work. Then Pa returned after she was gone with a fluff delivery and did some more work. Pa showed up last evening and Mom arrived a minute after him. They did a little aeration before Pa laid in the bowl and back kicked it. They stayed a while longer with Mom flying out 1st followed by Pa several minutes later.

Pa to the nest at 6:47 this morning and moved fluff and a stick on the floor, then aerated the bowl. He went to the left branch at 6:50 and flew out seconds later. He returned at 7:40 with a fluff delivery and aerated the bowl, did some rail work, then stood. At 7:47 he flew out. He returned at 5:41 this evening and spread some more fluff and aerated the bowl. Mom arrived at 5:44, then down to the nest and aerated. She flew at 5:49 and he at 5:50 for the day.

:mooncat: They did not come in this morning as usual as they stayed away during the rains today. However, Pa did come in late this afternoon and Mom soon joined him with a fluff delivery. They aerated the bowl and stood before flying out separately. Pa returned a little later with a stick to place and again for a 3rd visit before flying out for the day.

:mooncat: Pa was in early this morning per chat for a short visit. Mom came in late morning for a short visit. Pa returned with prey for Mom this afternoon, but after waiting for her and she didn't show, he went ahead and ate it on the left side of the nest. Mom returned to the nest late afternoon with a fluff delivery. She went to the left side of the nest and gleaned leftovers from Pa's meal that had fallen into the fluff. Shortly Pa to the nest and they aerated the bowl. Mom crouched on the nest floor for a short bit. She went to the left branch at 4:51 as Pa aerated the bowl. At 4:52 she flew. Next he went over to glean any bits from the leftovers. He flew at 4:59 and shortly you could hear vocals in the distance with his arrival to where they roost for the night.

:mooncat: Early this am an eagle flew in from the rear toward the nest tree, but landed on the left side of the tree and out of view. Pa came in mid morning with a fluff delivery as did Mom a minute later. They spread the fluff and aerated the bowl. Mom crouched on the nest floor and aerated the bowl a couple different times before she finally laid in the bowl and kicked backwards. Pa aerated it in front of her. At 9:12 she went to the left branch and feaked, then flew out seconds later. Pa flew at 9:38. Pa returned this afternoon at 4:39 and aerated the bowl and flew out at 4:41 in what would be less than a 2 minute visit. They never returned to the nest, but just before dark we heard vocals in the distance as they arrived to their usual roosting area for the night.

:mooncat: Both were in this morning to aerate the bowl and spread the fluff around. Pa returned this afternoon with a stick to place and did some more bowl aeration and spread the fluff around again. He returned later in the afternoon to move some sticks about the right rails and soon Mom showed up. They aerated the bowl and Pa did some rail work to the rear. At 3:31, Mom had a quick snite. Then she took a break on the left branch while Pa worked on the bowl more, eventually he laid in it and kicked backwards with his legs to dig it out. She returned to the nest crouching on the floor and spreading the fluff around. Pa got up and she got up and she was back down again a couple more times and they basically just aerated and spread the fluff. Finally she stood and looked around some. She went to the left branch at 4:04 and Pa aerated some more. She flew out for the day at 4:06 and Pa flew seconds later. He returned at 5:57 this evening to the nest and stood, aerated the bowl, then stood and looked around. He flew out for the night at 6:00. Rocky arrived on the nest at 7:00 and messed around for a bit.

:mooncat: To make a long story short it rained today and heavier this morning and they did not come in early as usual. Gabby never came in and once the rain lightened up, Pa came in 4 times today for relatively short visits. He brought in nesting materials with each visit...3 fluff deliveries and 1 stick.

:mooncat: Pa visited the nest 7-8 times today bringing in fluff, sticks and sometimes nothing. Most of his visits were fairly short. He brought in a humongous stick today and finally placed it to the front rail. It hung way down from him as he flew in. Mom was in twice today and I believe she had fluff one of those times. They also lost a large stick overboard and both stopped to look down to where it went. Rocky has visited the nest at least once this evening.

:mooncat: It was another Pa only day. He made 3 visits beginning early this morning. He only brought fluff once and that was with his late morning visit. When he left from this visit, he seemed to be seeing something in the distance and he left abruptly. He returned a little before dark for his usual nest check. All visits were somewhat short today.

:mooncat: Per chat, Pa to the nest x4 visits today and Mom with 1. They were not together. Pa's 1st visit saw him arriving at 5:00 am and alerting. Unknown what he was alerting to, but usually doesn't come in this early this time of year. He also made 1 fluff delivery during 1 of his later visits. There was not a nest check before dark this evening.

:mooncat: Pa and Mom each made 2 visits to the nest today. And Pa brought fluff in during one of those visits. Their last visit this evening overlapped. Rocky visited the nest at 9:26 and then went for a glide toward the left in the same minute.

:mooncat: They had a busy and full morning with both arriving before 7. Nestorations throughout the morning with sticks being brought in and placed and trimmed. Lots of aeration to the bowl. Pa also brought in at least part of a coot for Mom to eat. He gleaned bits from the floor that he could find after she was done. Both came in before dark this evening and each brought in fluff to spread and aerate before they left for the day. Rocky also arrived after they left and enjoyed what he could glean of their leftovers.

:mooncat: Pa made 2 visits to the nest early this morning with sticks for placement. Then he showed up at at 12:41 to the left branch with his back to us. Within a few minutes he was lightly vocal in a fussy manner and a large shadow flew across the nest and soon crows could be heard overhead. Then at 12:55 per the app cam, a large bird flew about, then to the nest tree and landed way below and away from the right side of the nest. Per the nest cam that has a slightly different time than the app cam, at 12:56:24 you could see a bird fly in from the rear and cross to the left of the nest and back again at 12:56:39 and cross to the rear of the nest tree from the left toward the right and then you lost sight of it. At 1:24, Pa turned to face toward the cam and he flew out at 1:25 for the day. The intruder remained on the lower limb at that time, but was very difficult to see and I did not attempt to follow it further. At 5:43 this evening, Mom to the nest and aerated the bowl. At 5:47 she saw something in the distance to the rear and went to the left branch and called out, she looked around and flew at 5:48 for the day.
