WOW, what great pics!
Yes Gabby is totally smitten with A1.
Chatters are still whining about V3 and Samson.
I am delighted we have a healthy new male.

Mods say Gabby is 9 years old and A1 is between 5 and 7.

Thanks Shep...,but you spoke too soon. V3 made an appearance today after being gone 7 days. He arrived at the nest tree at about 130 pm. He was in and out with frequency while on high alert with vocals (hoarse at times) until leaving the nest tree altogether at 716 pm this evening. This morning. after Gabby and A1 awoke together, they rearranged some nest materials together before leaving for the day. Neither has returned to the nest tree since this morning. I suspect A1 and V3 are battling it out while Gabby is waiting in the wings. V3 has fresh talon wounds on his left talon to go with his prior battle scars of last year. This is an interesting dynamic.
:nervous:

613 to 657 pm - V3 with head profiles. He is looking rather handsome. This is my first time seeing him this year. I recall him being rather dingy last year. His head and tail always looked dirty. Not anymore.

Yeah I noticed V3 is back - with his awful squeeky voice. :egg18:
I much prefer the florious A1 - but it will be Gabby's choice.

As of 8 am today, V3 returned without Gabby.
So far I have not seen Gabby - or A1

As of 2 pm Gabby has not shown up today - or last nite -
so our cams have NOT caught V3 and Gabby in the nest.

My guess is A1 is still a factor - time will tell.
V3 came to the nst and has spent a lotta time there today - alone

I dont see weell - its hard to see normal print.

"hohum:

Hi bev
Did you read that on facebook?
the mods on youtube say they dont agree with fb posts.

They said Gabby hasnt been seen in the nest tree for 2 days.
She was last seen at nest 2 days ago with A1

All the mods are hyping V3

Time'll tell

It was Gretchen that reported it on Monday night checkin. She saw them fly in together after 7 pm .

So she is a top source

From what I saw on chat (American Eagle Foundation, Northeast Florida cam site), Gabby and V3 slept together in the lumbar yard tree on both 9/24 and 9/25. When V3 was at the nest yesterday, 9/25, he had fresh wounds on his talons and a new wound just above his right eye. I have not seen Gabby visit the nest tree since V3 has been back. :hmmmm I have been checking the cam playback periodically, which holds 12 hrs of footage. V3 left the nest tree today at 1158 am and has not returned, but stormy weather with T-storms moved in at 650 pm. So, they are probably hunkered down this evening.

Pics from yesterday, 9/25 of V3s fresh wounds.
541 pm - Fresh wounds of talons.
Image

555 pm - Fresh wound over right eye. Very lucky he did not lose that eye from a talon puncture.

Pics from today, 9/26 of V3.
1028 am - V3 on alert. He was vocalizing at something above, but had barely any voice today.
Image

1035 am - V3 with healing wound over right eye.
Image

1157 am - V3s banged up talons just before leaving the nest tree for the day.

yes thats exactly what I see / hear.
Gabby may be dating both V3 and A1 - and not return to nest til she decides who she wants.
She could be staying away from nest til the males fight til one gives up.

OK I have an active imagination. :egg7:

Poor V3.
He faithfully stayed last year so I hope he succeeds . Of course do not want anyone deceased.

:15heartbeat: Hi bev

Eagle visitor #3 came to the nest - 3 times - this very winnnnddyyyy afternnon.

Very pretty adult eagle. mods did not give him A3 designation. They're busy trying to convince everyone that V3 is THE ONE - and I doubt it.

Truly NASTY day today!

Yes,...the weather has been nasty here for 2 days. Rain and heavy winds. No eagles yesterday. Today, we had a visit from Gabby accompanied by what I believe was a male. Gabby was not happy with him by the sound of her vocals and she ran him off the tree limb. However, he returned to the nest without her and vocalized. His vocals were very high pitched and sounded male to me. Clean talons. So, not V3 or A1, I thought maybe A2, but profile not quite right. I think this is a new guy. He was in and out of the nest 3 times and did some rearranging of nest material before leaving at 3:30 pm. No visitors since then.

106 pm - Gabby in the nest followed by another eagle that perched in the tree. Clean talons with no wounds. Gabby was not pleased and chased him out of the tree.
Image

150 pm - He returns without Gabby. No marks on his talons.
Image

235 pm - Side profile of new guy. Compared to A2, it does not look like him. Looks like a new guy. A3? Also has a dark stripe in his tail.
Image

We have a revolving door here. :girlcrazy: We need a very strong male that will keep intruders out. I agree Shep, I don't think it will be V3. He is constantly challenged, both last year and this year. There are too many eagles penetrating the territory and making it to the nest. Similar to what happened with Juliet. Any weakness in the armor is readily detected and challenged.

Thanks Nadia
Whats your nickname on NEFL?

Mods refuse to call him A3 so I will call him 9/28 :egg11:
He came about 8 pm too - for half hour - and laid down in the nest.

One of the chatters said he pooped in the nest.
Other males have done that too.

:egg19:

Hi Shep. You're welcome. I am not on NEFL. I do not participate in chat on any site.

Windy day here again with periods of rain. Weather finally calmed down this evening. A3, with the stripe in his tail showed up again today at 533 pm. Looked nervous and on alert. Took off at 546 pm. Returned at 725 pm and took off again at 728 pm. Someone else arrived at the nest a mere 8 min later at 736 pm and appears to be sleeping in the nest tree. Vocals sounded male. I am not sure if this is A2. Very hard to compare facial markings in IR versus daylight. No Gabby, V3 or A1 today.

533 pm - A3 returned today with the dark stripe in the tail.
Image

538 pm - Left talon may have 2 puncture wounds.
Image

543 pm - Tail with stripe.
Image

736 pm - Unidentified male arrives and moves some nest material. Tail is all white.
Image

742 pm - Unidentified male.
Image

817 pm to 849 pm - Talons look relatively clean, but may be wounds at base of right talon.
Image
Image
Image

1025 pm - Unidentified male still in nest tree. Slept on an off. Eye ring looks much like A2, but cannot be certain. Tried to compare nares, but very hard comparing IR pics to daytime pics.
Image

Still lots of uncertainty here with 2 males at the nest today. A3 and ??A2 or someone new.

Musical eagles tonight at the nest. At 1109 pm, A3 arrives at the nest with vocals and startles the unidentified eagle sleeping in the tree. Both exchange vocals, and the unidentified male takes off. I really think this may have been A2. A3 stays until 1136 pm and takes off. At 1155 pm, the unidentified male returns and is again catching some Zzzzzzzs in the nest tree.

Good night all. We will see what tomorrow brings. :offtobed:

September 30, 2023 pre-dawn
At least one eagle slept in tree.
Flew from Cam 3 to cam 2 where I saw him.
Mod banned me for calling him A3 - :furious:

Mods are FAR too committed to V3 ONLY.
They wont let me call him 9/28 or A3 - they delete my posts.
With evil mods and that horrid bot its no fun to chat after sunrise.

Sept 30, 2023 more rain Sunrise
7 am An eagle arrivs on cam 4 vocalizing.
After a couple minutes in nest he flew up onto cam 2.
Cam ops are calling it Gabby. Tail looks shorter than hers.
Does not act like Gabby at all.

8 am Mod FINALLY admits this is A2.

4 pm Mods FINALLY designated A3

I dont think Gabby's chosen V3 as her mate.
She really loved A1 but I havent seen him again.

:imbored:
