:mooncat: Beth I am so thankful you checked back in and saw this. I was going to send you a PM and let you know as I saw you had seen the initial report. I am very, very concerned now for Samson, but will remain hopeful for his safe return to NEFL. This is what JD is saying now:

The search will continue and we'll continue to pray for his safe return....thanks to everyone for providing comfort to each other during this hard time

And here is a video of the intruder and Gabby when it went to the nest:

By Gracie Shepard, "Gabby Pushes Intruder Off Nest"

At 7:06 PM nest time, Gabby is alone and asleep with her head tucked on the nest tree...

of 6:45 pm, the rogue eagle
returned to the nest tree and was
perched for quite some time.
Gabby was fully tucked and did
not seem aware it was there,
At approx. 7:30 pm the rogue
eagle jumped into the nest and
Gabby woke up. Gabby wisely
chose not to engage the eagle
in the dark and it flew up to the
Sunset branch where it is still too
comfortably perched at 8:00 pm

At 9 pm Gabby is tucked on Wallenda and the visitor is still comfy and sleeping on Sunset Branch. So far it is quite peaceful.

:15heartbeat: Currently at 9:15 PM nest time, Gabby is on cam 1 and the male is on cam 2 sleeping.

SUNDAY TUCK-IN: It's been an emotional day for many. Our hearts are heavy hoping for Samson's return. Gabby has been at the nest quite a bit since he last left, and she has remained calm. The rogue eagle appears to be male judged by size, but it is not confirmed. Gabby and this visitor are roosting at the nest (Gabby on 1 & visitor on 2). We will see what tomorrow brings. I will be on a search for Samson again tomorrow and LisaS_AEF and babyhawk_AEF will join me. I have contacted several in the area to keep watch for Samson as well as several calls to other sources. I will report any news. We will remain hopefull. Our awesome cam ops and mods will report nest activity. Your continued prayers for Samson are appreciated. Remember.....TTE and SED to all

In case you missed viewing or posts here.....You are likely aware Samson has not been seen at the nest since Thursday evening, however, he and Gabrielle were spotted perched together that night in the LY and mated and were there Friday morning. We are concerned that Samson has not returned to the nest and can assure you that everything is being done to try to find his whereabouts. When we have any information at all, we will post updates. We appreciate everyone's concerns and prayers for Samson's safe return.

jd_AEF

The visitor hopped to the nest again at 10:46 pm...did some work in the nest...woke Gabby up but she stayed right on Wallenda giving him her best "stay away" look. He looked like he wanted to join her on Wallenda but thought better of it..back to Sunset Branch at 10:51 pm.

11:00 pm Gabby is tucked and sleeping again

jd_AEF

11:55 pm Nothing changed...Gabby is sleeping and the visiting eagle remains on Sunset Branch.

:15heartbeat: At 12:30 AM EST on 11/28/22 Gabby is on cam 1 sleeping and the male is on cam 2 sleeping.

:15heartbeat: Following is a video that shows the male shortly after he initially landed on the nest tree and then to the nest with Gabby's reactions. It also shows in close view eventually all of the unique markings to this individual eagle to be able to ID him in the future. I will just add to this post throughout the day for any updates.

Video by flyeagle78 with close views of all his unique markings. Copyright 2022 American Eagle Foundation, EAGLES.ORG

:15heartbeat: The male did spend the entire night on the nest tree and I am unsure of when he left, but jd did mention in her notes from the site that he was still there at 5:20 AM on the Sunset Branch. He did go down to the nest twice, once late evening and another in the very early morning hours to work on the nest. Later she mentions Gabby down to the nest at 6:43 to defend her nest with photo at site of Gabby only.

:15heartbeat: 11:30 am: Do not see any eagles per cams.

:15heartbeat: Out of sequence as site was late in posting, but apparently the male had never left this morning as I wondered above. Update from site:

Gooood afternoon Hamlet! Gabby finally flies off at 9:04. All her protesting seemed to go in one ear and out the other. Anyhoo, after waiting to see if Gabby will return the visiter decides to fly off as well at 9:55. We will keep updating as we get updates. Up now to keep watch is aka_AEF. Stay safe, take care, share a smile, and please be kind to one another.

:15heartbeat: Gabby did spend spend time on the nest tree this afternoon.

Search crew reports no sightings as of yet. They have searched all around the nest area, local neighborhoods, favorite roosting spots and along the Intracoastal. They will be continuing their efforts this afternoon.

:15heartbeat: Gabby did return to the nest tree this evening and is there currently at 6:23 pm EST. As far as I can tell, she is alone on the tree. No further updates from the site on their continued search for Samson from this afternoon.

MONDAY TUCK IN: We have Gabby fully tucked at the nest again tonight.....solo! We had a search party looking hours for Samson today in the area to no avail. Having done the difficult search in the past for both Juliet then Romeo, I know the likelihood of finding them, but we try. We owed that to Samson.....Gabby too! The details of the day are posted above. We still remain hopeful and pray that Samson will return. Should that not happen, I do believe Gabby and the Hamlet will receive a blessing. We wait and see and TTE. SED everyone

:15heartbeat: Gabby remains on the nest tree at 10:40 pm and can be seen on cams 1 and 2. The insects are a burden to her tonight.

:15heartbeat: Gabby is currently on the nest tree. Was curious if the ground crew in their search for Samson had seen the male since he left yesterday morning and they did not.

sharipf_AEF

Beautiful Gabrielle - faithful to her nest - protecting it while she
patiently waits for Samson's return. We have no further information to share - thorough ground search yesterday turned up no signs of Samson. People will continue to look, the word is out to every facility and to all the locals. The visiting eagle left the nest yesterday morning and has not been seen since. You now know as much as we know.

Gooood afternoon Hamlet! Gabby is still perched at the nest on the LOP branch. Up now to keep her eagles eyes on the lookout for Sam. Stay safe, take care, share a smile, and please be kind to everyone.

Gabby flew at 1:52 pm and right back to the nest at 1:53 pm...back to LOP. She flew again at 1:59 pm

As most of you are aware, Samson has not been seen at the nest since Thursday evening. However, he and Gabrielle were spotted perched together Friday morning on a nearby tree off cams in the LY. They mated the night before. We are all concerned that Samson has not returned to the nest, and can assure you that everything is being done to try to find his whereabouts. We've had a search team out for hours. However, most of the area 1-2 miles around the nest is not accessible. If and when we have any information at all, we will post. We appreciate everyone's concerns and prayers for Samson's safe return. At this time everything is an unknown. We remain hopeful TTE and !!

gretchen_AEF
GIVING TUESDAY TUCK-IN: Well, Gabby certainly "gives". She's been at the nest much of the day and roosting again at home tonight. Although she's solo, she has appeared calm during Samson's absence. That is comforting. Tucked in our heart is hope, as we continue to pray for Samson's return and joy back in the Hamlet. SED everyone!

:15heartbeat: 8:55 pm Gabby is alone on the nest tree and sleeping with her head tucked. Even so, she is shaking her head every few seconds to shoo the insects.

:5val: Gabby did come in earlier this evening to spend the night on the nest tree and she remains there presently. There have not been any sightings of the male since he left the nest tree Monday morning. Tuck report from Gretchen this evening:

gretchen_AEF
WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: Gabby, the "Queen of the Hamlet", is tucked and snoozing in great view on Cams 1&2. She is and will remain faithful to her nest. Our hopeful hearts are still praying for Samson to return. What is Gabby thinking? feeling? Either way she will survive and claim her nest and her territory. Keep the faith and lift the prayers! SED everyone

:15heartbeat: Gabby has been in and out today, but for now she chose to sleep elsewhere. Saw a woodpecker and heard him busy at work as he pecked on the nest tree earlier today. Still no signs of Samson. And the male has not been seen again.

:15heartbeat: Coming in early to post today as there was another visitor to the nest tree. It seemed large when NEFL focused on it in close view and seemed to have a large beak and I wondered at that time if it was a female. The feathers on the body seemed a darker brown though. Still young with shadowing over head, but beautiful bird with a crop and 1 big PS! Gabby was on the nest and was vocal, but never made an attempt to shoo it away. The bird remained calm through out, even with Gabby screaming at it. When they went to the view that showed Gabby on the nest and the bird out on the limb, it didn't look as big then, but too far away for comparison in size with Gabby. Gabby ended up flying out and screaming all the way. The bird remained for some time though before flying out. Hoping this is not a female as if it were to hang in the area, they could end up fighting for the nest. So far, NEFL has not given indication of the sex. They searched the nest tree, then beyond the nest tree after it left, but nothing seen. Screen capture at site.

A visitor arrived at the nest as Gabby was there. She was quite vocal and later flew off. This is NOT the same visitor from the other day. Great job on the cams, kclark1! Visitor arrived at 1:50. Gabby flew at 2:05.

Here are some pics of todays events with the visitor, who to me, looks male with the round head shape and not much of a brow ridge. He was very calm, never vocalized, was non-threatening, and never went into the nest. He looks young,...maybe just 5 yrs old.

148 PM Gabby vocalizing loudly when the visitor lands in nest tree.
Image

156 PM Gabby moves to the nest. Vocals by her were softer once she was in the nest and she did some rooting.
Image

204 PM Gabby eventually leaves the nest. Vocals by her while flying away.

228 PM Visitor leaves. Below are pics of him.

Good morning everyone. Gabby arrived at 11:20 to LOP.

Yesterday's visitor arrived again today at 12:19 pm. Perched on Wallenda and then hopped into nest for quite some time. Flew at aporox 2:03 pm. Gabby vocalize a bit but kept watch from LOP.

This visitor V2 (meaning second visitor) is a fairly large eagle. We are only "guessing" that it is male, but cannot confirm as of yet, based on Gabby's reactions - it would be unlikely she would tolerate another female in her nest. However, she may be leery of engaging with this eagle due to the large size and the fact that there are no eggs to defend. We can only watch and see what happens.

:15heartbeat: A few minutes ago, I saw a flyby, then shortly heard a landing, but cam op did not follow. Then after awhile an eagle did land on the nest.

Just went back to cam and see they are now focused on the visitor who is on a limb and I am wondering if this was who I heard land initially.

Going to you tube where I can follow better with the DVR as I am now not sure this is the visitor or not as can not see the head or tailfeathers and site not commenting yet. Just looked again and I think it is the visitor as I can hear and see Gabby on cam 2 now, but not on the nest, unless both are her from different views.

Unfortunately it will be dark soon.

Gabby just went to the nest and apparently both views were Gabby.
