Bev, thanks for clearing that up about intruder not being able to catch her own food! Leaves me with one less worry about this nest. So far, everybody is thriving! :10sum:

That episode with the intruder and the fish was very puzzling and scary. I yelled when she pushed M out of the nest. Most comments I have read elsewhere seem to say that M allowed her to eat rather than to risk injury due to a confrontation. I do not know the time, but at some point overnight Sunday into Monday, the intruder was knocked out of the nest tree by one of the Great-horned Owls, who have THREE owlets in the west pasture. As far as I know, as of Monday around 5:00, there have been no intruders in the nest. M was feeding the eaglets a fresh fish around 4:00 this afternoon.

:15heartbeat: 18:37:46 in this video by Lady Hawk shows "mating attempt" or bond as SWFL site is calling it by M15:

Attempt by M15.

From SWFL site:

Southwest Florida Eagle Cam
Favorites · 16m ·
In tonight’s update of “As the Eagle World Turns’… M and the new visitor attempted a bond this evening. This is not a mating but possible sign of acceptance or dominance. Only time will tell for our Eagle family!

Thanks for the video, SWINWK! I don't know much about eagles, but the female (I think) is choosing to think of the food as a gift from M15. It's no wonder that she's confused. She wants to think about egg production and M15 is thinking about parenting the E's. I pray that the E's will be OK.

This whole situation is so confusing and very upsetting. As far as I know, the eaglets have not gotten any food today. From what I have read elsewhere, the female may have attempted to feed them, but I did not see that myself. This female is now being called R23-3. Rogue eagle 2023, #3. Not sure if I have that completely correct. M has been perched near the nest for a long time. There have been quite a few times when I have considered not watching any longer.

I will not be in as much as I have been but will pot when I can. M15 has brought in 2 fish . E21 had most share but E22 has enough . M15 just brought in some sort of UFO ( chicken) . E22 stole it and tried to do a bi tof self feed but was jumped by E22 and now M15 feeding it to E21 but I am sure E22 will get in there. another big fish would be great. M15 has let them self feed the fish or E22 soul have got more. I think M15 is trying to make sure they get .
I will try and look for crops on E 22 later
I will always look for the positive :loveshow:

:sorrow: For Harriet. I have thought that Harriet was no longer with us from the beginning. Harriet is Harriet and nothing would stop her from returning to her chicks other than death. I have cried the tears that burn your cheeks. Her death is a tremendous loss. This nest was my first eagle nest cam back in 2012 with she and Ozzie and Hope and Honor (E1 and E2). Harriet it has been a tremendous honor and privilege to have followed you all these years. I have learned more from watching you than any other eagle. You were fearless and did it your way and I will never forget you nor the contributions you made to the world...

Well what a day, a few miracles here.
First fish M15=brought in, he left for kids to self feed It was one of those armoured ones , so hard for them but they did a pretty good job
At one point M15 brought in a fish, rogue female takes, M15 to tree . Well I quit counting , at 20 good pieces for E21 . We’re there a few nips, sure but It made me really have hope , here. Now E22, got it good from rogue eagle. And here is why, in true form E22 snuck under her to get bites, she did turn and offer a few and being submissive, he turned away. He got too far under her and she lunged a bit at him and E21. But all in all, E22 ate well, and so did rogue female.
Quite a few fish brought in and by end of day, all ate well. Last fish, almost exclusively E 22. He is learning to be more aggressive.
I can’t worry about what we cannot control but today was good. M15 did as he should. Letting kids self feed and then feed later.
The key is enough food.
These mods are great. So positive. Why be negative. Things could be much different. Nature has so many twists and turns.
:loveheart:
Hope you are safe Harriet. I remember when Ma Berry was sighted after she lost her nest.
Sleep well M15 and young ones

I was watching the rogue eagle live yesterday afternoon, and had to pinch myself when she actually started feeding E21. I think E22 may have been fed also, but Ms. Rogue didn't seem to like him sneaking up underneath her. She then snapped at both of them. Not sure when, but a few days ago some person was seen near the nest tree making a food delivery. Someone yelled to the person, and whoever it was left. And swinwk, your comments brought tears to my eyes. I didn't watch when Ozzie was there, but I knew of him. This whole situation is so upsetting.

Another good day for the E,S. All full and ready for evening.
I have watched this nest for years also , with Ozzie and Harriet and then Harriet and M15.
I tend to look to the positives, as we cannot control nature. It is not predictable.
I also do not think of Harriet in past tense, as we really do not know.
For now, we take all the positives each day holds. And we pray for best outcome :loveheart: These are Harriet’s youngsters, and will pray , they can carry on her legacy.

:15heartbeat: Thanks Jane, I appreciate hearing from you.

24' podcast from WGCU NPR for SW Florida by Tara Calligan from 2/23/23 with Mike Braun interviewing Ginnie Pritchett McSpadden (well worth the time as she shares not only current events, but pre-cam days too) who is not only a Pritchett, but cofounder of the SWFLEC. She is frank and honest in her assessment on finding Harriet now. Also, she talks about some of the things we do not see on cam. "What Will Happen Without Harriet? SWFLEC gives nest update."

Interview with Ginnie Pritchett McSpadden.

The female was knocked off her perch (again) by an owl last night. It's been the 3rd time she was knocked off in the past couple of weeks. :girlsad3:

I just read on FB that she re-appeared in a tree other than the nesting tree after she chased the owl, but they believe she is OK.
