2013 ~ Eagle nest removed from the Garden. At this time, Dad and #3 have attempted at least 2 more nest builds but those were removed as well.

If new information arises, it will be posted here. Let's hope that Dad and #3 will locate the perfect spot, outside of the Gardens, for their future nest!!! :sum9:

I am thoroughly disgusted with this action. this is interference of the highest level. We cannot dictate where birds should nest.

I am very disappointed with those involved . If these eagles build near the airport , then what. the young will be in danger. The park is the best place.

I will never visit Norfolk Gardens now. It was on my bucket list, but not now.

I have sent an e-mail in protest of this.

I support Buddy through a program. I am so glad that I do.

this is all so mind boggling.

I just came back from Mexico and was staying at a resort in a protected area. what wondrous birds I saw and a lot of them near airports.

I guess I was hoping that 2013 would be a good year for our raptors. But I guess stupidity will never change.

I can just do what I can do, knowing that it will never be enough. :tissue: :tissue:

i fired away a few e-mails but I think they do not care.

I still say this is interference at the highest level and I wish someone would put a stop to this. These gardens should be a safe haven.

she will lay on the ground if she has to like the pair did in Delta and David tried to save the eggs.

The fight continues ... but no one in Norfolk seems to care! I follow the Facebook pages and give support where I can. The "Eagle Cam Alliance" FB page is the most involved. They held a silent march at the Gardens this past Saturday. They are working on a website for more overall information for everyone (that may not use FB). Tommy Smeigel seems to be the lone City Council supporter.

:sigh

Patti, I think this "fight" is so much bigger than just Norfolk. As I listened to the video meetings last year, I got the feeling that the town and the gardens had been superseded by the FAA, i.e., big government. I am thankful that there are those who are not letting this matter just go away. We may not get exactly what we want at this nest, but perhaps they will think twice about the thorn we have placed in their side...

Thanks for sharing all the press on the peaceful protest Patti. When I tried to open the last 2 links, I received a message that said I do not have permission to view the document.

I figured it was becasue of facebook, which I do not bother with. I know so many are on facebook but I still do not trust it. I am just on it with my rescue dog site.

I had to share this with you as I knew a lot of you would feel the same.and know how I felt today.

I am cleaning through a lot of papers, etc. that I have saved over the years . I have a file with all my favorite birds. There I found Ma Norfolk and Pa and little buddy. He was just a fluff ball. This brought back such a flood of memories and emotions. I donate every year to the Buddy fund but I find it all so bitter sweet. Ma is just a wonderful memory and the thought of poor Pa Norfolk trying to make a home for more precious young is heart breaking. Unfortunately there are not enough people who think of nature first. I have calendars and many picutres.

I also have my coasters , which I just display, instead of use, of Ma and Pa Norfolk.

Surely this cannot be the end . Sentimental , Yes.

How can these wonderful creatures survive in a world of greed, a world of politicians out for their own agendas. And then I think of the rest of nature.

I can only do what I can do. Take care of my own backyard. Feed all my birds and do what I can here. but I am getting older and sometimes feel I am doing it alone.

Hopefully, the people here , will see that they cannot control Pa, and nor should they. We should always be trying to help , not hinder. Where are the all the people that aided pa and Ma and their young. Where are their voices???

God Bless Pa and his new mate.

We all agree with you Bev. Sadly, some things are just beyond our control. I have this pair memorialized all over my house. Nice of you to continue to support Buddy...he is so handsome now, and feisty!

Sorry everyone ... yes, those last 2 links are to Facebook Groups that you have to be a member of to see. I actually removed myself from the group "Eagle Peeps" just this morning. No time to explain ... but it doesn't matter anyway.
