:sum9: nesting calendar updated. Later today [or soon] I would like to alphabetize the nesting calendar by nest. So look for a few changes.

Savannah and Derek's was the New Year surprise for sure. Congrats CRC and Savannah and Derek. They seem up to their old trick of not staying on the nest to incubate. But it has been ok in past years so they must know what they are doing.

Got this reple about eggs at Berry Eagles nest :sum9:

Berry College
according to two of our faculty members who have spent hours observing the nest, the eagles are currently incubating eggs. We suspect that there are two eggs. They should hatch some time this month.

Thanks KF!!

Did you watch my videos? they are definitely incubating. Of course, its gonna be hard to tell when there's been a hatch.

Yes I saw your videos and I agree and we won't know anything til their little heads start sticking up and over the nest but when they start moving and flapping that will be a great angle I believe :sum9:

Update on Jim & Cindy at Boonshoft/Dayton

January 3, 2013 - It is a new year and winter has found us once again. The frigid weather is just perfect for mating eagles though. The lakes of the area are partially frozen over which means that Jim and Cindy are more likely to be spotted fishing the local rivers. They are beginning to make their daily sunrise breakfast trips to downtown Dayton and the free flowing waters around Deeds Point. If you have never seen wild Bald Eagles fishing (and happen to be up early) try to venture down to where the Mad River dumps into The Great Miami River and you may be in for a treat. But beware that they are a bit skittish so if you get out of your vehicle, they will fly. Please try not to disturb them as that may discourage them and change their behavior.

Watch the icy surfaces of frozen lakes and rivers for mating eagles throughout January and February. The pair will be side by side and usually Cindy will instigate the process by prancing past Jim.

I watched as one of the 2012 juveniles flew low over Cindy’s head as she perched in a tree along the shore of Huffman Lake today. Cindy called to it as it passed and the youngster made two large circles over the lake before flying off towards the well field. JBW/EEW

Eagle attacks owl for "squatting" in nest

video by paulcartercgcs's

Published on Jan 7, 2013
What happens when a bald eagle comes home to find an owl "squatting" in its nest.
For several weeks now the Harrison Bay Eagle Nest has been visited by a pair of owls during the nighttime hours. We have been wondering what would happen if both the owl and the eagles encountered each other in the nest at the same time...well I guess we know now.

We are patiently waiting on Charter Communication to install our cable internet before we can broadcast from the Harrison Bay Eagle Cam for this year. The high definition cameras we purchased for this year produce a massive amount of video information and our phone internet simply will not upload the information.

Please bear with us. We are hoping for an interesting and successful nesting season this year.

I'll try to keep up on the nests work is slowing down a little now :sum9: ( Can you tell I'm heart broken)
