I try to check on Statler and UB fairly often…. Today at Statler Idid catch an adult spending time in the nest box. As it took off with legs dangling, I could see it was unbanded

A sad update from the Statler peregrine nest. A fellow falcon lover Dana from Rochester notified me yesterday that one of the falcons did not look good on the cam. I agreed & notified my DEC contact who also agreed & said the female was probably suffering from HPAI, aka bird flu, which is almost always fatal. A passerby took photos of the female on the ground & a kind hearted rescuer found her & took her off the cold concrete. As of this evening, the female is still alive. Our Peregrines have been having major problems the past few years.

I saw the falcon in the nest, I thought things did not look right :( (Beth)
