I saw her in the nest box last night looking very much like an egg was on the way, but couldn't see. Oh the little male just brought her a snack to the box, which she grabbed and took off. He is now trying to position himself over the egg. :egg11:

It's snowing.

I’m very concerned about his emotional and physical welfare. As a single man in my 40s, and having socialized with beautiful older women (and being a bird enthusiast), I want to reach out through The Forum to try to get Marv’s attention before it’s too late.

Marv, listen to me! You are a handsome young peregrine from Fargo born just last year. I understand mating is a natural thing for peregrine falcons. But, Marv, you’re not ready for this mature lady. She is so much more sophisticated than you. Tim Driscoll, the raptor expert who banded you last year, called you immature. He wasn’t being mean; he was simply stating a fact, Marv. Her name is T-E-R-M-I-N-A-T-O-R. Do you know what that means? Copulation could be a little more than dicey, Marv.

Look, I know she is beautiful, but she is too sophisticated for you. She will break your heart or worse rip it out. Her name is T-E-R-M-I-N-A-T-O-R! There will be other seasons for love and raising families. We love you down here in Fargo. We don’t want to see anything bad happen to you.

If I don’t see you down here in Fargo in the next day, I’m calling the Audubon Society and Driscoll and we will bring you back to Fargo. No ifs, ands or buts! Just say “no” to Terminator and get down here before she breaks your heart or worse. We love ya, Marv.

Audubon Dakota reported a week ago that one of the eggs had a hole in it and now one of the parents ate it.

Four eggs . . . no longer

It is now safe to say that the 4th egg with the hole that we noticed last week, has been consumed by the adult birds. This is not uncommon, and the parents almost always eat the empty egg shells after the chicks hatch. In this case, the broken egg appeared to be a food source to the adults and was treated as such. It takes a lot of fuel to incubate the eggs, so any source of calories is readily accepted. This now means that we have three eggs in the nest. They should begin hatching within...
