Per CMNH Forum. Apparently a fledge early morning..but grounded..

Post from C & C

DOW got a call that a juvie was on the ground in Public Square around 6:45 am. They let Scott and us know and Scott was on it... he let us know all was fine when he got there and both juvies were up high. He'll report more soon I'm sure, but just thought I'd inform in case he can't get to posting it b/c of work.

They spent all the night together in the nest tray, probably planning the first attempt.. :egg11:
Well, Forest (I suppose it was the male) grounded but could fly up high! :egg19:

Here a small tribute to our handsome Mr. Boomer. :egg17:

Scott's report:

Fledge of our young Male.

Got the call from ODW just after 8am, lucky I was up (one of the few times I can thank my body for waking me up, guys over 50 will understand!) So I was going to hit the nest before work, but got my behind in gear and got down to the square in record time. The call that ODW got was of a bird with band numbers on the ground by 75 Public Square, no contact info for Laurie to call the person back, this building is right next to the old stone church.

Checked with the building lobby security and he did not hear of anyone seeing the bird. I looked at all the trees, all the nooks and crannies of the buildings and such. No bird @#$%, went up to the nest and C/10 was on the ledge still.

Looked and looked and then saw SW land ON TOP of 75 Public Square. So I was like....How did the bird get from the ground to the top of a 16 story building? Was the report correct? All I can say is I found him on the top of the building. A possibility would be that another falcon entered the square and the adults forced the intruder to the ground?

So I set up the scope in front of the TT and watched him walk all around the top of this building.

He was fed just before 10am. He was then fed at 1:45pm.

I had to head to work for 3:30pm. I went into the building to update operations on the 15th floor at 2:45pm.

From the time it took to get from the street to the 15th floor operations department he was gone from 75 Public Square. I checked the ledge and only the female juv. remained.

Wanted to stay longer but was due at work.

I had stoped by yesterday after work and the two young falcons were on the ledge from 6pm to 7:30pm.

Will try and swing by when I get off work but that will be well after 10pm.

So I will be back tomorrow as early as I can.

Scott

So maybe Forest M/46 never grounded... :egg16:

Dear gals, they are mystery birds.. :egg14:

São aves cheias de abismo, Como nos sonhos as há. (F. Pessoa) -- They are birds full of abyss as there are in our dreams.

Stated in a simpler way, they always find how to fool us.. :girlyes: :sum9:

BTW, also Ruth C/10 fledged well yesterday!!! :danceegg:

Here C&C's report on CMNH:

Thought that Scott would have posted, but he probably didn't have a chance. He let us know that Ruth flew Tuesday before he was able to get there, but ended up reasonably high. He was hurrying off to work and he was nice enough to let us know. Not trying to jump in, but with Scott's internet connectivity issues I thought he might want us to update here. Again, he'll have more details when he can get online. Thanks again, Scott-- sounds like both made good first flights!

Successful fledges at the TT! (25 foto)

Chad and I don't normally cover much of the Terminal Tower nest site, but with some of the nest failures at the sites that we watch I was able to make it there today. The male juvie, "Forest" fledged earlier this week and has been flying well, and according to Scott Wright (the TT nest monitor), the female juvie, "Ruth" ended up on the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in the early morning today. By the time I was able to check the site, both juvies were on the Post Office Building in the square. They interacted with one another and looked to take flight by bobbing their heads and making hop-flights along the ledge. The resident male, "Boomer" made some fly-bys with prey, seemingly coaxing the juvies to follow. Forest took off, but Ruth stayed put while I was there and was eventually provided with prey on the back side of the ledge. For extensive coverage of the Terminal Tower nest, please visit the Cleveland Museum of Natural History's Falcon cam: http://www.falconcam-cmnh.org/news.php

Meanwhile, here are some shots from today...

Very interesting parents' behavior as well.
