At 7.30 A.M. it is 44 degrees here in Wilm. I see All they are able to do is sit by the babies and give them the warmth they need. Too big now to sit on them! LOL! Went over the bridge yesterday again on 495 and the wind was so bad, it was shaking the truck. I took a peek over at the city and was happy that they are in the nest box. I also thought about the perils of the ones that are not.

Thanks for all the great pictures everyone.

:egg15: Such sad news about chick number 6 not surviving, but I'm sure that Craig did all he could to save it. At the same time it was good to hear that chick number 5 is starting to thrive and is expected to be back in the nest with his/her siblings next week.

On a brighter note, the four chicks reamaining in the nest are looking very good. I just caught part of a feeding a short while ago.

OMG. Reenie - You're right about the feather bed for the chicks! I didn't even notice it until you posted your last comment.

Nice long feeding going on now. One concern for me about all those feathers in the box is the little ones picking up feather mites from them.

I'M STARTING TO THINK THEY DO THAT FOR A REASON? MAYBE TO GET THEM USED TO THE STUFF ON THE FEATHERS? BOTH DID IT. YET THEY KNOW NOT TO DEFEATHER FOOD AROUND THE NEST LEDGE TO DRAW PREDITORS AT CERTAIN TIMES TOO.

Isn't that amazing that both females at these two nests brought the bird with feathers into it. That must have some importance. I bring feathers into the house too, but I don't sleep with them!! LOL!!!

SAD NEWS ON THE NESTBOX NEWS/BLOG :tissue:

I received an update from Craig and I’m sorry to say that the sixth chick was not able to overcome whatever developmental issues he/she had and did not survive. The good news is that the fifth chick is doing very well and should be returned to the nest box next week.

I am glad one is thriving. If Craig had done nothing , one would not be thriving right now. And the other one got loving care till the end I am sure( that for me is a big thing)

No one thought the wee one at Bell would survive last year and it did and was hacked out on the pembina.

I am so grateful for all Craig does

Just watched a feeding that was ongoing when I first tuned in. What a saw lasted a good 15 minutes, and all got their share.

She's running a Facebook page. Ethel has a link on the first April page above, or copy and paste this:

https://www.facebook.com/wilmfalcons

It looks like the kids are starting to grow some dark feathers.
