It would seem to me that a bird could exercise those wings just as well without standing right at the edge of the point. For that matter, over at the other side, I suspect the view is just as good a few steps back from the column, not necessarily up by that tiny edge.

Not that I know anything about it, mind you, I'm just saying...and at least this way it gives our hearts some exercise! :)

I totally agree, Finchy!

I tuned in a few minutes ago and only saw two on the ledge, one of which was over by the column looking like it wanted to go around. Then there was some chatter and all four were there to my great relief. One is having a great time hopping and flapping and playing with some leftover with its talons. It keeps getting way too close to the edge and for a moment was right in the face of one of the others flapping. I thought it was going to send its sibling over the edge. This is the time of the season when they really make me nervous!

CHECKING BACK IN TO SEE 3 BY THE ORANGE POLE AND ONE LOUNGING IN THE SCRAPE (REALLY BLENDS IN). WELL ONE DID POP UP.

Agreed with all comments about the wing exercise and being too close to the edge. I was ready to hop in the car and head downtown hoping that I wouldn't be picked up as a vagrant wearing these yard works clothes. This morning I thought one was going to try to get up on the shield, but it didn't.

Jane, LOL! I can understand how scary it feels to us the way they are SO close to the edge. No fear in them at all, but of course they have WINGS!! They are all down at the end now. Three at the point! yikes. Food arrived I believe. No just hollering at a parent I guess.

Lil' Dad brought in some prey, one of the girls got it. Niecey remained on the point as did the two chicks by the post.

Thought I just saw an adult fly up to the cam. Several of us are planning to go to Wilmington tomorrow to see Red Girl and her family and some friends. Hope our HBG babies stay put. I may spend some unofficial watch time downtown on Monday, though.

LIL DAD AND NIECEY DON'T SEEM TO BE DOING FLYBYS YET, THEY ARE BRINGING FOOD STILL AND FEEDING TODAY TOO, SO THAT'S A GOOD SIGN THAT IT'S STILL A LITTLE EARLY FOR THEM TO FLEDGE UNLESS IT'S AN ACCIDENT.......

I also thought an adult was up on the cam the way that chick was screaming in that direction. And that is an awesome picture, A J. Thanks for sharing it with us. And I only see three, also.

EDIT: Food arrived and had a tug of war with parent. They are hungry! Only three though. The fourth one must have eaten earlier.

CAN'T SEE ANY COLOR ON THAT ONE CHICK WHO LAYED ON THE POINT FOR SO LONG AND DIDN'T COME TO JOIN IN FOR A WHILE. I'M THINKING MAYBE IT'S RED GIRL, BUT I'M NOT SURE. I THINK IT'S THE ONE WITH MOST FLUFF LEFT.
