No action at the moment, everybody sleeping. Poor Durand needs it I'm sure since she's been with those babies non-stop. Oops there comes a wing out.

MWPLAY, I DID NOTICE THAT #3 IS CURLY. AFTER #2 POPPED OUT WITH CURLY DO, I TRIED TO FIND INFO IF REX GENE MUTATION HAS EVER BEEN DOCUMENTED IN PEREGRINE FALCONS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT @ THIS POINT AS: FLIGHT FEATHERS MAY COME IN AS NORMAL, FEATHERS MAY YET STRAIGHTEN, THIS IS A NORMAL VARIANT THAT WE HAVE NOT SEEN PERSONALLY. I AM AWARE OF THIS MUTATION AS I HAD THE GREAT, OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A REX CAT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! HER NAME WAS KINSKI AFTER "NASTASSJA KINSKI AND THE CAT PEOPLE" AS THE YOUNG CHILDREN OF PREVIOUS OWNER NAMED HER.

More food must be coming in. Anyone else notice only #1 has the complete white fuzzy. The other 2 babies are sort of curly looking.

#2 is hungry...

6:49pm - Spark just made delivery to ledge. Durand came out to get food and is now feeding kids. Good sized meal!

Poor Spark, he never gets to visit with the kids.

Darn it, the little one only got one bite cause he was behind the others. :egg15: She did know he was there cause she reached over the other 2 once to feed him.

Just opened the cam a few minutes ago to see the chicks alone and crying. Turned to the outside cam to just catch Durand running around the corner of the nest box to come back in. What was she doing out there, stashing the leftovers behind the box?

Good catch.

I saw her on the inner ledge, but only caught her as she was coming back in. I wasn't paying enough attention to the ledge cam. So, my guess is she was finishing off the meal (it was good sized) or she was stashing.

Yep,

Here are the only shots I got.

I still don't think that she feeds them enough. She should know that they are not full until they get quiet and fall asleep. It would be a lot easier for her and them. She's probably stressed to the max listening to them cry so much. I don't know though, when they are older, they stand right in the parents' faces and cry non-stop.

I didn't record anything from this last feed...but have been recording from mid afternoon on...Durand did leave several times..Nothing was ever on the outside cam nor did she seem stressed..she was rarely gone longer than a minute...except for one time when I thought she must have seen Spark...she really perked up and took off...no vocals....one other time she did return "licking her lips"...so she may have gotten a quick bite...other than those, it was quick...maybe just to stretch her wings..

This was after she returned one of those times...this is baby #2...who really seemed hungry...the other two never woke up when she left..

Of course, this was spark coming in..

and the kids while both are on the ledge. The feather issue with both 2 and 3 is so interesting...We kinda explained away the curly, non fluffy look for #2...but, for #3 to look the same?

Just a couple of pics from that feed.

DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE SAW MY POST ON REX GENE MUTATIONS. DO NOT KNOW IF IT OCCURS IN BIRDS OR JUST MAMMALS. I HAVE TRIED TO FIND INFO ON CURLY FEATHERS IN BIRDS. FOUND SCIENTISTS DO STUDY FRIZZLE CHICKENS TO UNDERSTAND THAT PARTICULAR MUTATION AND POSSIBLY APPLY TO WILD BIRD SPECIES POPULATION. MAKES ME THINK THERE ARE GENE MUTATIONS IN BIRDS THAT CAN CAUSE FEATHER VARIANCES. I AM SPEAKING AS LAYPERSON ONLY.
