There was a bonding session around 6:44.... Only if they locked beaks could they get closer!

I think I want to frame this picture...

Somebody was there first thing this morning. Don't know if they spent the night here. Now they're gone.

I agree. She will come in for bonding, spend a little time, but then leaves. I think if DC is up above, she will be at the box. It seems very different this year.

Like right now, I think he's down at BS and sounds like he flew South (according to MAK's tweet), checking territory and it appears she's on MMB. In years past, she would take this opportunity to work on the scrape.

It's like they are on high alert. I get that it might be due to migrators passing through, but this seems different. I keep wondering what kind of pressure they've got from the North. It seemed they spend/t lots of time watching N direction.

ETA: I also think there's something further South, past BS. I'll go back and look through old tweets, but I seem to remember Pigott and DC flying South frequently.

10:26 Bonding session. Too bad the main can didn't get a good pic. They were pretty close.

Recorded, so I will post

Saw your post - I think they mate & then he races to the box! She was right on his tail when they arrived. Totally in line!

Heard something up there. I've got the headphones on and I could hear him calling to her. Patsy confirmed he was above her on NE Wing. I think when they are on Mercury or Wilder, the sound travels up/echoes, so I hear them better. When they are above, I think the sound travels different (out) so it's not as loud.

12:01pm - Patsy on stream reported:

Both are under NE wing. DC just did some AMAZING displaying flying for her. And yes, he even did a couple of swoops, not coming too close though.

I could hear them up there earlier talking/bonding, maybe even mating. Lots of vocalizations from both.

Bonding at the box now. B landed on deck first, followed by DC. He headed to box, his favorite spot over scrape. B is on deck. Lots of talking and bowing.

Now DC is on right side of box. B still on deck. He's probably thinking, "Come in here and lay the eggs, I'll just watch"..

Okay, he just flew off. B did not go in box. DC flew off towards OCSR. B is on side beam, I think watching him. She's doing some preening. Maybe he's going to get her some lunch, or going to fly for her again. I could hear the excitement from them earlier!

4:49 - another bonding session... DC in box, B on deck.

Funny..

DC "Put the eggs right here"
B "I'm working on it"

It's a bonding stand off!

Okay, I was lazy and took a nap, but set up recorder. Looks like there was a large prey exchange at 6:35 and he has been waiting for her until he just left at 7:13. He was on the other side of main cam, then went to box. He's been calling for her. So good to watch over their nest!

Carol tweeted that B was on top of Mercury... maybe she's going to lay her eggs over there?

Okay - Total joke here..

She just came back in. Feather out of place on her back. He must have gone on top. He probably chased her egg butt back to the box and gave her a swoop to tell her to stay there.

Of course she takes off a minute later. Either they just mated, or maybe more food was exchanged as I heard something

I don't get it. Beauty just ate...

Carol just tweeted:

DT. B went on a hunt to the south. Came back with prey and landed on NE wing ledge. DC flew to NB then to top of Mercury.

DT. All kinds of vocalization between them. Time to go.

ETA: Well yes I do.. Maybe she needed another meal to top off so she can lay an egg tonight.

Here comes DC now. 7:47pm
