Terka posted the video of the feed I had. I found it hard to see i f little one go t fed but I have to believe it got a few bites.
I am not making light of anything, but when we had 3 chicks left at Bell last year we so worried about the 3rd one. but you know he learned how to scootch to the front., or around to the side. He even became quite the hog after awhile

and it took awhile for him to grow, bu the did.
We have seen too many tragedies and sad things but try and remember all the ones that survived that we thought not. the 2nd eaglet at Blackwater , comes to mind right now.
If you think hard , Not be in g demeaning here, I just have to really reach back far sometimes

, we have seen females not quite feed the chicks till they are full before. They all have different strategies. Some feed till chicks cannot move. this does not seem to be Durand's strategy and it may change.
I am going to relate this to humans feeding babies. I always followed a schedule. I did not feed till stuffed . some fed every time baby cried. I know birds are different but somehow the same.
I have been watching the feathers because of our chicks at U of A a few years ago.however ones at U of a were not born with feathers this way, it developed after. These may just have something lacking in system, when born , that will be overcome. I think one o f them is getting fluffier.
I am going to do further research.
I think Durand is doing well, just not how we think she should do.
sorry for epistle
