2:32pm - There's a parent on the black mat at NB - chupping. Now on ledge, chupping.

My first instinct says this is Dan. But so hard with this lighting.

ETA: Maybe it is Cher. Looking back at pictures, I see a long tail.

I know parents sometimes try to hide from kids, but I don't like that she/he is back on nest ledge, looking out, preening, etc. I would think if they've got 2 out there, they would both be out there to protect.

3:15pm - off the ledge, into the box, doing some housekeeping.

3:19 - out of box, back to ledge.

Barbara who is a moderator on the SF forum just gave a mini-update:

Lotta has spent the day atop PGE. She was fed earlier and has hop-flown the length of the east side. We have not found Tera yet. We have had birds missing for two days in the past, so we need to wait, watch, listen, and be patient. Barbara

well Tera may be out there. if it is hard to see from ground , they might not see her.

some do not come back to nest ledge . Tera did first day but may just like it out there now. We have had some come back all the time to nest area and some not at all.

one year none of them went back to nest area.
so my fingers are still crossed for Tera

I thought at first kid on ledge till I watched back at my video. sorry did not have time to do video.

Cher is back in the box. Pretty sure it's her. She's now on the ledge.

Ground watchers have Lotta on top of the PG&E building. Apparently there are some great views of her.

I wish we could see her. let us focus on the positive.

no unusual for parent to return to this ledge when kids are out. They may have the ohter one in sight form there

At weber, on e parent would stay at home base and one over at another spot where between the 2 of them they could see whole area

unfortunately, I thought I had cam recording and I did not . but I saw adult land on ledge and then a falcon flew to those 2 tall buildings and one flew to Mission building across and flew to higher part.and I thought one was already there .

I am wishful thinking that I saw 4 but I saw 3 for sure,

I wish someone had been at cam to zoom . I f I had recorder on , I could have seen for sure. You always see better after

thanks mwplay for answering my question on SF forum today. I oft confused, when they make remarks and do not reference it. I try not to say too much as they are really picky sometimes

Jim just commented that he thought he saw 2 juvies on 201 Mission - and I think it was earlier today when I thought I saw 2, but he clarified that when he looked at his video, it was a food drop. That's what I saw also on my video.

Well, maybe I need to look at this like "No news is good news" :egg16:

Joy just posted:

Roy has just found Tera on the Federal Reserve Roof. She looks good.
Lotta is still on the PG&E roof.

For reference, here's a map. NB is at PGE building. 201 Mission & Federal Reserve is highlighted in yellow.

I tell you - this is the worst year, IMO, of people going on the roof during nesting. I don't know what's going on. Sucks, that's for sure. I hope one of them get nailed. Serves them right, especially going out there with no hats.

Good grief...this happened last year too...remember? Only difference was that we didn't have fledglings to worry about...

Barbara posted a late update to the SF forum with great news:

Tera and family

Tera spent the night on a balcony of the Federal Reserve Bldg (corner of Market and Spear) probably next to the wall of the building - peregrine style. She spent most of the day resting with occasional trips along the balcony wall that has a very large pipe (pigeon deterrent) attached to the long side. Finally at 4:30 pm she flew. She flew level with very strong wing beats around three sides of the building, crossed the street and landed on the Matson Bldg. (corner of Market and Main) It took us a while to find her and soon after she flew to the top of PGE to be reunited with her sister who probably spent most of the day up there. Lotta was seen taking some flights, but we could not see her from where we were watching Tera.

The next step was to get all 4 birds in sight at the same time. That took 5 of us some 4 hours to accomplish. The two juveniles kept running along the roof line, taking short flights and the parents were in and out. Finally at 8:30 pm, 3 birds were visible on the roof of the PGE Bldg and one was on 201 Mission. No food was brought in today, but they were picking at Lotta's leftovers from yesterday. Everyone should be hungry in the morning.

The juveniles should find good roost spots on PGE and Cher and Dan have their favorite places. We called it a night and left them to roost.

Barbara
