I have shared your posts here for Red Deer also. So glad your able to view and share your pictures.

Hi Kittenface & happy to be here. I heard about BCAW a long time ago from Bev F. & Emyrauld but just never got around to signing up until now. RRP forums have been keeping me quite busy tho.

So glad to hear you are a regular visitor to our forum. Pop in & say Hello one day tho. Yes, it was an exciting year at RDRN, with the finding of "Alberta Gold" on the taxi cab & all. Much more exciting than other years, with the cams. Our 4 little treasures are flying very well & getting ready for their long jouney south. Always a bitter sweet time for me.

Good Morning Kitten, SkyBlue & Bev & thank you for the very warm welcome. I do know what you mean about having the time to post elsewhere, it took me months to sign on here LoL Yes indeed, we have all met elsewhere but my main home range is the RDRN site in Red Deer, & of course it has been an adventure with no cams for 2 years now. (Cams should be up & running next year) BUT, my friend Allie_Cat has been an gigantic help in getting snapshots with her still cam & scope. As you already know, we have got great photo memories posted on our Forum. Allie is the "home run hitter" on our team.

Snowing here in RD but not accumulating yet. Bev, I will be sure to send you some. :egg19: Back to seasonal temps for the weekend.

Trying to figure how to post pics here on BCAW but I will get it ...... eventually ROFL ~~ HAGD Evy1

thanks skywings

we have the snow and it is accumulating at my place, but we sort of knew it was coming so had lawn cut and winter fertilized. but have not taken pumps out of water features yet

I have been following Red Deer. do you know band numbers. I always look to see if one of our birds ends up there. first year I have not made it to your site, in person. , and I have seen someone with big camera. Now I know who.

one of our female from the Mis is on Red deer River

I will be posting a few more pictures of Weber and U of a this week. Have not been down since Thursday but red band male was at U of A on Thursday.

Hi Bev, ~ sure glad you got the snow I sent you. I hate that when you specificly send someone something and they don't get it on time. :sum9: I have no outside prep done yet either, Yikes !! This won't last tho, = +20's for the weekend and it may not snow again until Xmas (how I wish) :egg15:

No band numbers for RDRN Pefa. It just is not cost efficient to send Telus crews up & down the tower for banding, no less the difficulty to arrange the banding crew for the same time schedule. I think Gord banded Moe before she went to Pembina River Gorge last year and I think Tiny & Taio were banded before they were fostered in to our nest box in 2011. ~~ Do you have a list of or a link to the Alberta band #'s ?? OR better yet, is there a Canadian Database link ?? I have my own "make-shift" list but it is not very detailed or accurate & mostly consists of hear-say information.

My gosh Bev, whenever you are down to Red Deer Tower (in person) let us know in advance & we can meet you there for Pefa talk & maybe do lunch. I live only about a Km from the tower (as a pefa flies). Wud very much enjoy meeting you & Peter & to see Gord again if he is with you. First briefly met Gord at the tower in 2011 = fantastic person / man. ~~ And yup, person with big camera / scope wud have most likely been Allie_Cat.

We managed to get to the Edmonton Valley Zoo (Aug. 31st) & had a good visit with Nadira (our mischievous baby from our 2010 nest) Zoo staff said he may be introduced to a captive breeding program soon. Is that info correct to your knowledge ?? He is 4 years old now, so wud be a good candidate.

Who is your friend from Great Spirit Bluff ?? (Screen name only please). I will very likely know of them and very well. I used to hang out there a lot but not so much any more = no time.

Hi again Bev, ~~~ I agree with kitten & wish to extend well wishes for Peter & hope the recovery time is minimal. They sure are getting replacement surgery down to a fine art now-a-days. ~~~ I am almost getting to that point myself but I firstly want to try WD-40, Crazy Glue & Duct tape to see if I can "patch up" this old bod. After all, it is starting to squeek & fall apart at the seams. :teehee:

Thanks for the info, Bev, & good luck with the data base. We are waaaay overdue for that type of Pefa info in Canada

U of A and Weber

we continue to go to both sites, as does Barb and Jean. between the 4 of us we always see someone .

The kids must have left as we have not seen then in awhile. The last we saw K12 at WEber was Sept 1 an d I believe that was the last we saw Blue at of A, but I could not go down there for a few days, so thye may have left a bit later. I will have to look back in my years and see if juvenile females have had the habit of moving out of area sooner than juvenile males. It would make sense as they will not, usually, come back to nest at their site . The males however could, as we have seen at many sites.

the last that Jean saw red was sept 7 and maybe sept.9 we last saw him sept 4 0r 5( had commitments).
we know they move to other areas, before migration. One year one of our males from U of A was spotted at Beaver lake marsh, east of here , in early Sept.. A lot of birds gather there before migration.

It got so hard to tell juvenilles from adults without a scope and lens so they may have been flying and we may have thought adult, at times.

We continue to see both adults at both sites as of Sept16. I find this time of the year, eerie but peaceful.Especially if it has been a good year.

This year was harder for me than others. I did not get down as much as I wanted after kids fledged. ( family stuff) so I felt I let them down. I know that is corny , but they become a part of me , for that magical time of year.

The kids at both sites gave us so much enjoyment and heart attacks :girlyes: :girlyes:
I wish K12 ( at Weber)could have had a sibling, but they do not really know. I do feel she missed K13 at first, as they were joined at hip, because of baby gate, but she became a real lady. She looks so much like MIss Edmonton , and stooped pigeons like a pro. It was sad that out of 5, MIss Edmonton and D01 , only got to train 1, but I do not question Gord, as I know he is doing what is best for the falcons, not me :girlcrazy:

We did not get out to Pembina this year, with Peter not being able to walk far, but it went well. We were lucky , this year to have an adult male an d female there. Usually the kids train each other.

Red band male and blue girl( form U of a) gave so many magical moments. Red chased anything that came into the territory and at times , Blue was right at his side. He seemed to take on role of Blues protector, as big brothers do. My eyes glaze over as I think of the two of them. they both looked like Radisson and sometimes when Blue was perched, you thought it was Radisson.

as the season winds down, my hopes are to hear of my kids at some point intime. Alberta is such a vast area, who knows where they could turn up.

So we will continue to watch until our adults leave. Isually adult males leave end of Sept and females leave first week in Oct. but that could just be our crew at U of A and Weber. It has been this way since I first started watching back in 2005( before I knew anything at all).

I have not e-mailed Gord yet as I wait till mid Sept, and I am slow this year.

I am just downloading the last 2 videos I have of both sites. so check back if they are nto here , if you read this.

Fly high and Free my young ones , watch out for hurricanes, and may there always be food a plenty. :girlluv: :girlluv:

I will learn to tag them , for next year

this is from Weber. all of beginning is K12 and then are a few of Miss E flying in middle and then Miss landing on a satellite drum toward end and Do1 on a far off perch. this day on august29 we were treated to a real flying show. Barb saw them also the next day.

This is from U of a. brief description. This was the last time I saw them both together.( bittersweet, as they stole my heart. ) We saw blue by herself and red by himself.after this

For me, that is why I watch so many hours duriing fledge watch. you miss nothing. I am tired and cranky at times but full of such joy when it all comes together.

Red i s on pillar , you can see full crop. It was looking as if it would burst . Blue girl is on red building( Maz), eating some food ,Red deposited.
before this ,they put on quite a show which we could not capture. we were on ground and trees in way, but red had food in talons and had blue chasing after him. . Red flies up to Cp, as RAdisson drops off prey( she was on aerial on CP), by yellow signs , ( all flight pictures are of Blue)
blue flies over and red lets her eat. He slips off and flies over to a far away building. RAdisson is on back of CP blue is left on Cp eating . as we were leaving chase flew in and he and Red went on a chase but we were gone

and our red stars helicopter. big great grandmother.
