Short update on Iniko and Eva (Puff Daddy's daughter that he raised after her Mother went missing last May. She was the one they rescued from the cliff cavity nest on a ridge that they thought the Dolan Fire would burn through and sure enough after the rescue, it did burn through that nest. I remember after she got to the zoo something was not quite right with her, but never heard what and am wondering if the injury then is the injury now. I remember when they rescued her from her nest, she was not pleased and somewhat resistant.) Was hoping Redwood Queen and Puff Daddy would get together during the mating season that started at the end of November, but so far no signs of that. The update on the two girls come in the beginning of this VWS Zoom Chat:

Now that the Australian Peregrine Falcons have finished their nesting too it's time to close the calendar.
Summary of the 2020 nesting season of the worldwide Peregrine Falcons (with webcams).
Active nests: 216
Egg #1: 216
Egg #2: 210
Egg #3: 197
Egg #4: 156
Egg #5: 16
Egg #6: 1 (Wilmington, Delaware (VS)
========= Total 796 eggs of which 599 hatched.
Of the 216 nests with 1 or more eggs, 25 clutches completely failed (no hatch).

Found this article from "Wired" by Jesse Klein on 12/11/20 "Severe Wildfires are Devastating the California Condor". While Eva, Iniko, Redwood Queen are not mentioned by name, if you've followed the Dolan Fire and the condors you will know who they are referring to. I did not realize they had to rappel 50 feet to get to Eva's nest in the cliffside cave, but there are 3 photos of that rescue. Also, learned things I had not stopped to think about and was ignorant of. Especially one of the reasons 10% of the Big Sur condor flock were killed in this fire. They are working on plans to hopefully avoid this in the future. Also, I do not remember if I have ever mentioned the Dolan Fire is suspected arson. The accused was recently found competent and ordered to stand trial. Peta has requested that "Cruelty to Animals" charges also be added to the accused, not just for the condors, but all of the wildlife lost in this fire.

AEF is seeking permission for CROW to enter Captiva nest d/t monofilament line wrapped around chick. Noticed yesterday. AEF annoucement:

"The AEF Cam operators discovered a monofilament line wrapped around one of the eaglets. Officials at AEF have contacted USFWS for permission to have CROW investigate and evaluate the eaglet’s health. Upon permission, a trained CROW staff member will be lifted to the nest. Cams will not be accessible during this time."
