Hilton Head: Yesterday both eagles fell from nest. They were recovered and taken to Birds of Prey Rehab with suspected avian flu. HH4 is in worse shape than HH3. Neither parent has been seen and ground crews are out looking for them. Harriet was last seen on Thursday. Not sure when Mitch last seen. HH3! Msg from HHI:

2/27/2022 6:00 pm: It is with a heavy heart that I share tonight's update. We received an update from the Birds of Prey Center this evening. It is not the news we wanted to hear, unfortunately. HH3 did pass away today and HH4 is still alive but not doing well. There are more questions than answers at this point in time. Please don't speculate and give us the time to find the answers which we will share when available. We will be monitoring the adult eagles as closely as possible. The Birds of Prey Center have brought in specialists from various organizations on this case including the Clemson University Vet School.

Heartbreaking.

This is a great short video by Penelope Mcgee! See Obey's surprise (that he doesn't see) when he lifts the head of the fish he just brought in to feed his 3 kids and later when he pulls it through the gills.

DH16! I check on them daily and the food supply was okay, till recently. Last few days, less food brought in. I noticed in chat the mod had mentioned even River and Obey did not have crops a day or so ago. A couple small fish were brought in yesterday, but B16 had little if any bites. Two more small ones brought in today, but the oldest consumed them and did not allow the others to participate. Apparently the older chick was very forceful with DH16 today. I noticed DH16 did not have as much energy a couple days ago, however surprised me and after a delayed amount of time, D16 did go over to try to be fed, but it was too late. Apparently they have had a lot of rain recently and a couple of cold fronts that put the fish down, so River and Obey have struggled with fishing. They are even saying the squirrels have not been heard on cam as usual. I have not seen River nor Obey since I've been here this visit on the nest, but could be hunting for food or nearby off cam view.

EDIT TO ADD: DH16 has not passed! Will have to look into to see what is going on! I AM SO SORRY!! :7val:
