According to chat, Fern is getting a little sassy…she grabbed the prey away from Moxie and played “ keep away” with her for a while!

Fern is busy being precious this morning- Hopping and flapping and running, letting her wings sag in a food begging gesture….

Oh! The joy of Fern! She is skip hopping along the “balance beam” and flapping her wings as hard as she can! Now she is right by/ under the cam so you can only see parts of her. From her movements I think she is preening, trying to get every bit of that white stuff out! I think she heard her cousins in Pittsburgh have fledged, and she wants to, too! :10sum:

This morning Fern is run/ flapping up and down the “runway”. She was off screen for a couple minutes but came back into the nestbox to finish off prey that was left there…

Thanks for the pictures of our Fascinating Fern! This morning she is up on “Roosevelt’s Wall” ( One of Fort Wayne’s first tiercels who loved that wall). For a while she was galloping and flapping back and forth on the wall. A parent brought her prey, and just dropped it off at her feet, and left. She wasn’t sure what to do with it…. Looked at it for quite a while, and now finally she is picking at it……

Okay, I’ve gotten my laugh for the day. Fern was doing her flap- hop dance along the wall. In comes Jamie with prey! Fern is so excited! But Moxie Zooms in, grabs the prey and leaves…. Show momma what you can do, little girl, then you get a reward……Edit- I may have just seen Fern Fledge….around 8:08 am, just after Moxie grabbed the prey away…..
