I agree Terka. And do we want eggs with things the way they are. I try to remember this is nature but we have all loved and watched little dad for so long. I only hope he can stay safe and go and heal. I never count him out but he has to heal.
I have been following an eagle site where we have at least 3 injured males . One with broken leg or foot., in January. He has been coming in occasionally and he is not all healed bit looking better. The other had injured foot , like little dad. He has been back last two weeks and can put pressure on it now. If you did not know, you would not know he hurt it.

This is my wish for little dad. To go away and heal. He is a smart male and knows this.
As much as I love this wonderful male, I would rather he take a break, and heal

this male does not seem relaxed. so I guess it is wait and see. I do believe little dad or someone still out there. My last post was not giving up on little dad, just wanting him to heal,
I have footage of this male going up and down ledge, as if someone out there bothering him and flying off a few times

We have seen little dad go away for days and then reenter the scene. hoping for best outcome here.

I hop e this does not mean, that little dad is no longer with us

I saw no mating on cams today, so it must be happening else where, but he did bring her a food gift.

I am also hoping they have spotted little dad

3/13/2021 :: Update on W/V and 85/AK
Based on today's observations from the Falcon Watch and Rescue Crew, the tenure of W/V, the 18-year-old resident dominant male, appears to be coming to an end. These reports indicate that the interloping male, banded 85/AK, has been mating with the longtime female, 48/AE. To many followers of PA Falcon Cam, this is certainly sad news. Yet, it is important to understand that this is the natural progression and was inevitable. This is not to downplay the role W/V has played in the recovery of the peregrine falcons within the Commonwealth. Over a period of 16 years, W/V sired 65 falcons, including the resident female who nests at the well-known location on the Brandywine Building in downtown Wilmington, DE. Hatched and originally banded in 2003 at the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia, W/V's longevity is also an amazing aspect of this falcon's life story!

This transition should be recognized as a positive development. 85/AK's arrival signifies the continuation of the most productive peregrine falcon nest site in Pennsylvania. Within a short period of time, eggs will be laid in the Rachel Carson State Office Building nest box and this nest site's productivity will continue.

We all know these things in our head, it is our heart that hurts

Actually, we watched this bird hatch. 2017 hatch from Chesapeake (Baltimore). Due to his large size at banding, he was banded as a she. (Hopefully, I have my facts straight)

Don't feel bad...I had to stare at the falcon a really long time to figure out it was Niecy...I was praying and praying it was Lil Dad, too...I do think he is still out there.

"He" (who shall go un-named...for now) is currently on the point.

Bev...and others....do you remember Roosevelt and Freedom of Ft. Wayne fame? The senior citizens of the falcon world. They were well past their laying days when we met them...but, they both remained such lovebirds...We lost Roosevelt first...and later, we thought we had lost Freedom as well. But nope...she had just retired and was found over a year later.

I remember that! Those were the days. "All is well at night when Freedom is in her spot in the corner of the nestbox!"

I remember them dearly Skygirlblue.

Unless I hear otherwise, little dad is still out there. I know he was today as everything that I saw pointed to it.

some think they will fight to the end, and sometimes that happens, but I think he knows he cannot defend, and will go and heal. I knew someone was out there , last few days ,as little dad was coming in fast, last couple of days, not good for a bad foot. and this male was in defense mode, today
.

So , as most o f you know, I am an eternal optimist. never say never. th e good thing , he is banded and he can be spotted somewhere. But as I stated earlier, look ho w many times he has fought, gone away and healed and come back. He may not come back to challenge, but he may not be far away.

When I saw and posted this the falcon I saw had his left foot curled up. I didn't watch to see how long he was there. Maybe wishful thinking.
