Sad News, between 9pm Sunday and 7am Monday, during the dark hours that the cam is not on, the third chick disappeared. The 3rd chick hatched 5 days from the first two. Sunday night into the early morning of Monday Oceanside, NY had a major rain maker that lingers even now. The other two chicks are looking fine and eating well.

Kitten, sorry for the late reply. I haven't had a lot of cam/forum time, trying to keep up....I have ground nests with problems.

I checked the cam, all looks well :egg 19: Mike would have posted any issues....I trust Mike :egg9:

I love how well the young birds are camouflaged.

Current Status:
All Osprey Chicks have fledged
1st on 7/5/12
2nd on 7/9/12

It was an interesting and early start to the season, but for all the visitors at the MNSA it was the best year to observe the pair and there family. This pair was very tolerant of visitors and allowed us an intimate view into their life cycle like no other pair before. We hope to see this pair again next year.

Mike, thanks for the update. Very good they have an early fledge, more time to get strong for migration, easier on the adults too, very important.
