I really never thought about outhouses as dangerous to animals this sounds like a very good start on helping them maybe
some of you that are with rehab programs can share this in your states

http://www.tetonraptorcenter.org Some of the most adorable animals in the animal kingdom, the world's smallest owls, die by the most senseless and horrific ways when they enter ventilation pipes on vault toilets looking for a place to roost or nest. Teton Raptor Center hopes to eliminate this problem by installing screens on the vent pipes and educating about the problem with the ultimate goal of completely eliminating this risk. Help us spread the word by watching and sharing this project.

I put it on mine too. I just don't think people are aware. I sure wasn't.

When is a “humane trap” not humane?

Image

Virginia Opossum (#1517) was caught by accident when a business owner, trying to get rid of raccoons on his property, set a cage trap he had bought at the hardware store.Traps can't determine who they'll catch, and this one caught this opossum.

The problem? She was a nursing mother who needed to return to her babies.

Oh, that is just so sad beans. I have one of those traps, but I only use it in the house - for the varmint the kitties occasionally bring in through the cat door. I check it all the time and promptly release the critters next door and tell them to run for their lives and never come back!

So many of these Wildlife organizations do such great work. . and MARS is one of my favorites. .

Eagle Rescue yesterday

Comments from the video:

Published on Nov 3, 2012 by MARSbirds

One of our supporters, photographer Dan Delucry, spotted an injured Bald Eagle at the Oyster River while out taking pictures and called us, remaining to watch the bird until we got there. As soon as Reg and Grant approached it the eagle jumped off the bridge it was on and fell in the raging water. Reg had to quickly scoop the bird out of the water with the net before it was swept away. Once safe, the bird was untangled from the net and wrapped in a towel. The Bald Eagle, named Duke by rescuer Dan, was taken back to MARS, his bare back was carefully washed, then he was left to get warm and dry under a heat lamp. A short examination didn't reveal any injuries besides the missing feathers and possible bruising on his back. This eagle probably wouldn't have lasted long in the cold, wet Fall weather with so much of his insulation missing.

We are in a contest to receive funds from Aviva for cameras in our flight pen so we can monitor patients as they recover and so we can share some of the images with our followers.

Oh my. Wild bird rescue, especially the larger ones, is certainly not for the feint of heart. [or is it faint] Lucky Duke!

And I voted!!

This video by Arizona Game and Fish is a little long, but chronicles the great lengths they take to try and save one particular nest from repeated tick infestations that have been killing the chicks. .

Such dedication and fortunately, a happy ending. . beautiful scenery too!!!

The first pictures of the nest coming down was heartbreaking. Hopefully that will solve the tick problem. Love the foster program.

You know watching this makes me wonder about some of our nests that have been losing chicks thanks so much SGB for bringing it here.
Isn't this a great begining for the Arizona Eagles?

No, not too far ever DEF. We just need to figure out how to reach the ones who need to know.
