I was looking at C&C's Ohio Peregrine Page on Facebook and saw this entry regarding Rocky's Food Buffet. I am only including a small portion, but I think this is what we see when Beauty & DC have a food struggle, and makes complete sense. I think DC is providing for Beauty, and my guess is when he's been guarding at the box for extended periods without Beauty meeting him, he has provided prey and she is consuming it.

Rocky's Food Buffet

An important aspect of courtship behavior is when the male provides food to the female. This demonstrates a tiercel's ability to hunt and provide for the female and for their young, assuring the female that she can focus on egg laying, covering eggs in cooler temperatures, and incubating the eggs, as she is typically far less active during this time. It also demonstrates the power of competing instincts for the tiercel, as his independent instinct to survive drives him to capture, consume, and store prey for himself, yet his instinct to reproduce drives him to turn over prey to the female and then to the young. These powerful competing instincts are sometimes portrayed in the male's hesitancy to give the prey away, yet he is spurred on to do this more as the needs of his mate and young grow more intense.

Beauty just arrived back on deck 3:23 with some rapid chups. She's quiet right now.

Just flew off again 3:25

During the time Beauty was upset, Patsy looked out and only saw gull.

I've got to wipe down shower walls. Cleaning bathrooms today. Are you watching cam?

Totally understand... Laughing because I've got Rochester on old PC and all the other "silent type cams" on my other PC. Both are acting weird...

Well it's quiet now & I'll record.

Have a good dinner. I always know when I go to feed the dogs, they show up. Of course, I have to be in a completely separate part of house and they show up... If I was in kitchen, at least I could run back in!

4:52 Visit of Beauty and DC/Unknown Male to NB. Action starts at 2:28 in video. Larry O had 2 flying together at BS at same time this took place.

Earlier in the afternoon, Beauty was in the box, rapidly chupping and look high up. She stayed for a short time then departed.

he had left already before I got video going. I was recording elsewhere and just put cam up , like I do a few times a day. Sorry, but at Forum they say Dc tonight

I was looking for a black band on the tiercel while watching this & didn't see one, so it was apparently not DC. :girlsad3:

On the second video, it was hard to tell but it could have been a black band.

Just based on the stills from the 2 visits, I'm pretty confident the 7:07pm visit was DC. Very white chest. The earlier visitor - not so white chest & hood looks different to me. I think it was probably just someone passing through. So far things have been quiet today and DC & B have been seen together, with a prey delivery and mating.

I wish I could record larger boxes, but I think that it would end up too large to post/embed in forum.
