CHICKS HAVE BEEN ALONE FOR A WHILE, BUT IT'S NOT TERRIBLY COLD OUT THERE AND I'M SURE THE WIND IS BLOCKED BY THE SCRAPE.

It is now 50 degrees here. Going up quickly since I got up. Seeing Red Girl with them just now, they are too big now to cover them completely. She can just give them warmth from her body being next to them, like a coat! LOL!

So glad Craig took the other two. Looking at this, this morning, they would not have faired well. The others are too far advanced.

Another feeding going on. No I'm wrong. She seems to be just checking them.

Just saw a nice long feeding. Red Girl is attempting to brood the chicks now, but they're getting too big. She's more like standing in front of them rather than brooding.

I'm a little late in posting, but this was from early this morning.

Nice pictures, Anca. It looks as if the Wilmington chicks have been getting plenty of food thanks to Red Girl and Trinity, both of whom are great hunters!

SAD NEWS ON THE NESTBOX NEWS/BLOG :tissue:

I received an update from Craig and I’m sorry to say that the sixth chick was not able to overcome whatever developmental issues he/she had and did not survive. The good news is that the fifth chick is doing very well and should be returned to the nest box next week.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. I was so hoping the poor little baby would make it.

I am SO upset to be reading this. Honestly didn't have a good feeling about all of this, but am grateful to all who did what they could.

I also wondered about the youngest one. Craig did his best. I am VERY sad about this, but watching these nests, is tough. There is always Joy and Sadness. Life in General is hard! I am praying the others make a good fledging. We need to mourn, but there is joy in the morning, as the saying goes.

It is almost too dark to see anything right now, but Red Girl is there feeding the chicks.

Glad to read that Jane, as they were alone the last time I checked. A little after 8.00.

I'm sorry to hear the youngest died, but that is nature I think. I'm glad that number 5 is coming back and can't wait to see the chicks grow to beautiful falcons.
