It was a shame there was no zooming today, The Howe family must have been away this weekend. Here is a pic of a parent making a food drop to the new terror in the skys, Mac Falconstein. lol

He looks gorgeous....but boy, when they zoomed in, the bugs (flies) were still all over him..bless his heart..and did he fly across the road?

I slept in this morning and missed the live coverage, but here are a few more pics from the video.

I also noticed the bugs crawling over him, poor guy. I will have to go back and watch the video again, I did not notice where he flew off to. I was just on the GSB cam site and he was within the area of the microphone to pick him up. :girlyes:

Great that you heard him, Del...

It was hard to know where he flew to. He was headed in the direction of the road, but could have easily veered right or left..cam was a tad slow to follow him off...

Sunday I saw Mac fly OVER to the cliff top - as if he'd come across the road.
Hard to believe he'd have been across the hiway between hiway and river.
The gnats are still driving Mac nuts poor bird

I wonder if he is on the that the others were on last year.

At least he can get away form flies, and he can pick them off and shake them off.

Can he shake them off? He was flappin his wings as if in a fit of temper.
I'd think he cud dive in the river too

Mac put on quite a show today, he was on the cedar snag for over two hours. He was in the shade keeping cool so the pictures are a little dark.

The camera lens needs to be cleaned also but I wouldn't want to disturb the falcons.

I happened to catch a couple of pics of Michelle yesterday when GSBD was panning. It's nice to see her too!

These pics were taken this morning of Mac

This last pic is of Mac trekking off into the tall grass at the top of the bluff, you can just make him out in the upper left. The fledglings did the same last year, I wonder what their interest in it is? Maybe because they all fledged from the ground below, I don't know.

I was listening to hear a falcon at dawn, when I saw a very bright light.
It was too dark to even see the Mississippi River, so I didnt know what the light was.
Then I saw another even brighter light upriver round the bend.
The upriver boat - my guess is coast guard - came to the anchored boat.
They sat awhile then one returned upriver.

After I had taken a snip of the 2 boats, a train came along so I took it also.
No, I never did hear a falcon.

I flipt to rr today to peruse it.
Mr. GSB has put a bar across between the box and the perch,
so the fledglings wont fall thru there. GOOD! :mooncat:

They also have a snip of a pefa on the box perch.
