Here's video of Nor'e after Mercury returned earlier. Again, it is evident something is wrong with his left wing, but this is the most he has extended it since I have been watching today, and some good flapping.

So do I...that was quite a collision with the building. Wonder if the wind slammed him into it..Tesh got blown off the wall by the wind just 3 minutes before he flew in. Praying it's just bruised and resting will heal it.

Unfortunately, Nor-easter's wing doesn't seem any better. :egg15: There was a food drop from Beauty. There was a food fight (I think Beauty wanted to beak feed) & Nettie ended up with the food. NE eventually went over by the food & Nettie & she didn't seem to mind sharing, but he walked away. Hope there will be some food left or that a parent delivers more food.

It was just pointed out on Chat that yesterday, Beauty let Nettie eat & when she was done, Beauty came back & beak fed NE, so hopefully that will happen this morning.

Now Beauty is back with more food & is beak feeding NE. He doesn't seem to be able to feed himself. Nettie actually fed him at least one bite earlier--a couple of people saw that!

They are such good parents. And I love how this family is staying so close together. Nettie is still with Nor'e at the box. He was just on the wall, and is working his way back towards the deck.

I think he's looking for something to pick at. On his wall walk, he found a leftover bony wing and picked at it.

He is so beautiful and I really hope just a little more rest will help him. I can tell you, he seems a little more active this morning than he did yesterday. More alert. Tracking things in environment.

Someone just landed above them on the small ledge directly above box. Nettie is squawking/wailing and Nor'e is just looking at her. Looks like it might be nap time for him.

B was perched on top of cam 1. She came down to deck and picked up a little leftover wing and just fed Nor'e. She knows he needs some care right now.

Such a good Mom. I just love watching her with her kids.

Well, Nettie must be on babysitting duty and not happy about it. She's picking on Nor'e. Trying to get him to play. She picked at his feathers. Stepped on his tail, etc.

She wants to play. He's more alert and interactive, but trying to get away from her. For a minute there, he was in front of main cam, on corner of deck and I thought she was going to push him off.

Much more active this morning.

Thanks SGB!

I think his wing is probably the same, but his overall condition seems to be better. He's more active today. More alert.

Of course, I've only been watching for 1.5 hours this morning, but compared to yesterday, he was 1/2 out of it, sleeping/dozing. Maybe it was the heat combined with pain?

Thanks mwplay!! That's encouraging about his activity level. I guess as a really FAR behind observer, that wing looks like it could be painful. I hope the inability to extend that wing is due to swelling and not something more serious...and I don't even want to think about that..Glad to know his sibs are keeping him company!!

Look who made his way up to the NB roof:

Image

He has since come down, jumping to the beam, then semi flapping out to the wall.

His wing is still not right, but he is in much better spirits, more active and alert than this time yesterday.

Hopefully he will take it slow. I'm just concerned he will try to keep up with Mercury and push too hard. I guess that has advantages and disadvantages, but hopefully we will see improvement every day.

Thanks for the videos, SGB! Besides being glad to see his sibs keeping him company, I'm glad Beauty recognizes that something is wrong & she's making sure he keeps his strength up by feeding him. It seems like the other 3 can self-feed now--wonder why he doesn't? Maybe he just wants Mom to take care of him. :flirty:

Forgot to mention that when I first brought the cam up, all 4 kids were by the nestbox!

maybe he is the baby and is not quite ready to self feed.

All 4 are home now. There was just a food delivery made & the commotion was deafening! It looked like they were all flapping their wings pretty good while parent was approaching nestbox. I couldn't even tell which one was NE. (I would post a capture, but the cam is backed away so it would be hard to see anything.)

when I opened the cam, 3 were in a feed frenzy and Nor'e was over to the side...I don't know if he got any or not.

I'm really trying not to freak out. Those pictures of him looking so small get me nervous. I know he doesn't want to get in the food scuffle with the others.

I watched him today with Nettie. She wanted to play. She was picking at his shoulder and tail. He looked back at her, didn't show any weakness, but got away from her.

I know Beauty fed him well this morning (at least I think she did), but now that the others will follow her, it might get harder and harder for her to feed him without interference.
