Actually...the good news is you can go ahead and adopt yellow girl...she's currently listed as "pefa" on the adoption list!!!

I can't wait to find out her name...ya know, maybe we should have pooled our 'resources" and put in a bid!! Oh well...hee hee..

APPARENTLY, WHO WON THE BIDDING TO NAME YELLOW-BAND HAS GIVEN THAT HONOR TO AMANDA! STILL CAN'T GET TO THE GALA, HOWEVER OTHERS ARE ABLE TO VIEW.

From what I can gather on their cam site for "Pefa", Amanda was given the honor of naming Pefa. Hopefully there will be a video of this later on today - so I guess we need to keep watching. (Amanda is Pefa's main caregiver and trainer)

"Possibly the most amazing moments of the 2014 Wildlife Center of Virginia's Annual Gala and Benefit Auction were during and after the auction for the naming rights of the Peregrine Falcon. This is after the auction bidding for the naming ended, and it was revealed that a very thoughtful group of people had pooled resources to make sure that the the Falcon's caretaker, Amanda, would be the one to name her. The amount raised for this honor was an incredible $9,500."

Hi everyone, sorry it's been so long. I went straight from rehabbing baby birds to trying to sell our house, which wasn't nearly ready. I am taking a break from all that now for the holidays (except a little rehab) and returning back to enjoy some eagles cams. My oldest dog Jake is sick and not sure how much time I have with him, so staying home with him is my focus. I am also traveling with Bryan in a few weeks and will get a chance to catch up on things at CCB.

Anyway, as you know Amanda was given the gift of being able to name our little girl. I have such mixed feellings about all of this, but she has been nice enough to ask me if there is anything special that she should know so I'm throwing it out to all of you. I'm going back to read all the history since hatch because all I can remember is her spending all of her first day on the crane and a crash landing the second day.

So let the fun begin!!
