not sure what this was about. maybe preening or getting the last bit down or in protection mode. not sure. seems O.k. right after

Remember mamaV is going to have some battle wounds so her face will not be as pretty.

this was posted by DAve on boulder blog

Currently, the female is in the nest box and the male is roosting in the tree where the “intruder” owl had been roosting. There is no sign of the intruder so perhaps they have driven her off.

I think they are going to let nature take its course.

I really think nature needs a helping hand. Especially the owls right now

I went into archives and she takes so long to eat that I am wondering if she has injured her beak .she worked on that from 4:03 till 6:07 off and on.

here is a slideshow form archives

she came in at 1:07

she is out on perch right now

slideshow from archives

Bev, we see lots of injured beaks in rehab, but usually it comes from impact (cars, buildings). Since she had facial wounds, it is possible.

4 - 6 AM ... I know what you mean, I actually had the idea I was watching a replay of the same scene several times, esp. since the prey wasn't that large (anymore). However, thinking thus, I tried to notice a "gap" in the stream, so to say the start from where the image stream was repeated - this I couldnot detect. I recorded several parts of it between 4 and 5 AM (again, local time) but had no chance yet to review them. The correct time was shown, but that doesn't say all (it may come from another source than the images do). Will report back when I have watched the reported material.

For some reason I jsut had to log in ?????
under the weather but just checked Valmont and eggs removed

in the archives there was nothing after 10:23 and then in 11:00am archives this is when no eggs was first seen

Image

I still cannot get live cam so they probably shut it off while doing retrieval. they probably had to wait till Mama V was not hanging around inside of nest box

so now what will be will be. :arrhrt: :arrhrt:

It was probably Xcel's Dave Madonna who removed the 3 eggs this morning. He removed them last year on February 22 when the ravens harassed Snowflake & Dan.

Hoping for the best for Snowflake & Dan.
