:1val: Romy is perched on a branch at the nest tree tonight and Samson is at the LYT per admin. Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. The Tuck followed by the sites versions of where Gabby and Jules may be:

WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: When we arrived at the nest for tuck, Samson was perched on the Wallenda branch and Romy was busy chowing on dinner fish dad had delivered. It was his second fish for today, and his crop is a dead give-away (pic posted above at 8:10). He's perched and may roost on the branch tonight at least for part of the night. He loves his home! Samson later flew and was spotted at the LYT (pic posted above at 9:05). All is fine in the pine and Romy thinks his nest is best! SED to all!

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:08 PM
For those concerned or inquiring about Gabby & Jules.....Jules was last spotted on the day she fledged (Thursday, May 7). She was seen off-site flying, landing and flying again. She was confident and strong. A juvenile BE visited the nest prior to her fledge. It's very possible Jules hooked up with the juvie and is learning the ropes. Although we all would love to see her back at the nest, she may yet return, but she has no need to return if she's fending for herself. That would equate to success! It's also possible she and Gabby are out there together as Gabby was last seen on Wednesday, May 13. Last season Gabby frequented the nest and the Hamlet area and was last seen on May 11. Is she following a pattern? Time will tell, as this is her first breeding season, and we have unanswered questions....yet no concerns. Samson has faithfully provided for Romy. Food delivery is all Romy needs provided by his parents at this point. Once he masters his flying skills (landing is typically the challenge), he will begin to fish and forage and provide for himself. It's most likely he will team up with Samson and learn from his example, although much is instinctual. Last season Samson was last seen on the LYT on July 4. It's expected he will remain in the area for awhile. Romy is showing all the milestones and routine we have seen in the past years at this nest. He is doing a fine job and sure loves and defends his home. Stay tuned!

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:35 PM
WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: Romy didn't do much roaming today. He took a couple short flights and hurried to get back home to avoid missing a meal. To his surprise dad didn't deliver today. He's fine, tho, as he has yesterday's 2 fish to tide him over. He has managed to perch on most every branch on the tree, as he sees the area from a better view now. In fact he likely saw dad perched in a distance in the LY. Samson didn't arrive tonight but was tucked on the LTY, as he was last night, likely keeping an eye on Romy from a distance. All is well! SED to everyone!

:1val: Apparently, Romy was knocked off his branch during the night by a barred owl. He returned this morning and appears okay. I think he has received 2 fish from Samson today. Romy has also been harassed by a RSH as was Samson after he brought a fish in this afternoon to the nest for Romy.

Poor baby. Sure wish Jules would visit. And Gabby too.

:1val: Gaby has not returned. Jules has not returned from her fledge. No report on where Samson is tonight, but he can not be seen on available cams. The LRC is down for the season. Romy is lying on the nest looking around right now. From admin:

gretchen_AEFToday at 8:26 PM
Jules last seen: May 7 (off-site), Gabby last seen: May 13 (ET), Samson last seen: May 21 (nest), Romy's fish rec'd on May 21 (2). All is well!

:1val: Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. Do not see Samson on available cams. He brought Romy a fish at 5:55 pm. Romy is asleep on the nest right now. Gretchen has been typing, but I don't see the Tuck as yet.

Romy is up and preening at 10:50 pm. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEFToday at 8:52 PM
FRIDAY TUCK-IN: It was a rather uneventful day at the nest today which is just fine. Romy did his short flights but favors his "home sweet home!" Dinner was served, then dad flew off. He was tucked tonight in the LY. The LY (Lumber Yard) got its name when Romeo and Juliet would fly there and strip branches off the dead trees (snags) and deliver to the nest. We would see them fly and snap a branch off in mid air and make an about face back to the nest to use the branches for the nest rails. It's not an actual lumber yard, but it provided for some convenient shopping! Since then the eagles would perch on the LYT (Lumber Yard Tree) and have a bird's eye view of the nest from a distance. Romy is often faced in that direction, so they likely see each other. The Lumber Yard trees have been a favorite perching and roosting spot for some time. Tonight Samson was high in a pine (photo link below). Romy is tucked and Samson surely is as well. Happy 13wk birthday to Romy! SED to all!

:1val: From part of the ground crew earlier today:

gretchen_AEFToday at 9:57 AM
Earlier when Romy was gone, Glenn was driving down main road into the area where the nest is and Romy flew over him like a pro!

gretchen_AEFToday at 8:04 PM
SATURDAY TUCK-IN: Romy did some roaming today and was seen flying the skies and spent more time off-site than usual. He's progressing beautifully. Samson continues to be the "best" dad and delivered not one but three fish today! We thought we tucked Samson in at the LY, but he decided to do some night fishing and surprised Romy with a bedtime snack. What a beautiful sight as they are both perched near each other at the nest tonight. SED to all and enjoy a safe and memorable Memorial Weekend! God Bless those that Gave All!

gretchen_AEF Today at 8:08 PM
SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Romy had a few flights today and even perched at length at the LY! Samson delivered a fish for Romy this morning, so he's set for today. The forecast for tomorrow indicates rain possibly much of the day which is needed badly. Romy may not be doing a lot of flying tomorrow but perhaps a bit of rain dancing. Samson arrived late, but he's tucked in the LY tonight. SED to all and may we all remember the sacrifices many have paid for our freedom and the blessings we have. Have a safe and memorable Memorial Day!

MEMORIAL DAY TUCK-IN: It was a soggy day in the Hamlet today and rain is predicted thru the week. Romy experienced a heavy rainfall as he was perched this afternoon on a snag in the LY. He had a little slip landing back at the nest, but he recovered. He had a few flights today and a fish delivered by dad in the morning. Dad is tucked and roosting tonight in the LY. SED to All!

:1val: Romy is sleeping on the tree right now and Samson is at the LY. Samson did not bring a fish to Romy at least not on the nest, so he probably did not eat today. Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. She is 14 weeks old now. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEFToday at 8:37 PM
TUESDAY TUCK-IN: Romy is home where he belongs perched at the nest tree (for now anyway), but he will likely jump into the nest at some point during the night. He should remain dry thru the night, as rain is not expected in the Hamlet until Wednesday afternoon. Romy was perched at length this evening in the LY on the LYT and a pine in the LY. Then Samson flew in and landed on the LYT as Romy vocalized (imagine that!). Dad soon took flight and Romy followed. Romy flew directly to the nest. Not sure where dad went, but he ended up back at the LYT and likely roosting in the LY for the night. SED to all!

:1val: Unsure how many fish Romy got today, but know he had at least one delivered per Samson. Romy is not on the nest tree tonight, because he is spending the night with Dad on the LYT!! Photos on the Discord site. Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF Today at 7:45 PM
WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: Oh boy, now this is the sweetest pic ever.....dad and lad roosting together tonight on the LYT. The pic was taken when it was lighter out, and they are still there per Glenn. Leighann_AEF is on cams waiting for Romy to return home, but she's far from disappointed he's spending the night with dad off-site. Glenn said Romy was chittering away when dad arrived and continued (dad on higher branch and Romy on lower branch). Sweet tuck and SED to our dear Hamlets and to all!

:1val: Romy is currently perched on LOP. He spent the whole night with Dad at the LYT. From early morning:

gretchen_AEF Today at 7:23 AM
Samson flew from the LYT at 6:10 towards the ICW (intracoastal waterway). Romy flew shortly after and likely in the same direction. Our boy spent his first overnight with dad off-site, and it was peaceful!

cyn_AEF Today at 9:32 AM
Romy arrives home at 10:32!
Samson comes home with a nice fish for Romy!

:1val: Romy was dive bombed and hit in the head from behind by a RSH while he was perched on the LOP today. Video at Discord. Romy is with Samson again tonight at the LY. He arrived before Samson. Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEFToday at 8:25 PM
THURSDAY TUCK-IN: Here are some photos of Romy perched in the LY tonight weathering the weather (hard rain, thunder & lightning). He's one tough eagle! He started out on the LYT (snag) and soon went for cover on a pine in the LY. Then dad showed up and Romy was so happy to see him, he went crazy with vocals and flew over by him. They both settled down with dad on the snag and Romy back to the pine roosting together again in the LY. Rain is not expected until sometime tomorrow giving them some "drying" time! SED to our Hamlets and to all

:1val: Romy arrived at the LY at 5:10 and Samson at 7:30 this evening and they are perched together. Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEFToday at 7:31 PM
FRIDAY TUCK-IN: Weather is approaching the Hamlet. Romy had a great day celebrating his 14 wk hatch day, as dad delivered 2 fish to him at the nest within 30 minutes of each other! Romy's crop was living proof. They are both tucked together at the LY.

:1val: Romy is most likely at the LY with Samson. Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. Saw earlier this morning some felt Romy had a crop when he showed up to the tree this morning, but no meals taken on the nest today. The ground crew did not go to the hamlet this evening. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF Today at 9:29 PM
SATURDAY TUCK-IN: Romy and Samson last seen in a sheltered pine in the LY. SED to all!

:1val: I think Gabby has probably left for the season. I'm very puzzled by this, but during the season she stayed away for more than a day or so a few times. I don't ever recall a Mom eagle leaving the area before a fledge and not even before the juvie/s leave the area actually. I hope she is okay. I am even concerned for Jules. They've mentioned one juvie fledged here and wasn't seen for a month. But certainly these events are not what we would hope for. It is unknown where Romy is tonight. Gabby has not returned and Jules has not returned from her fledge. Samson is at the LY. He delivered 2 fish to Romy today. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF Today at 9:13 PM
SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Well that rascal, Romy, stood dad up tonight in the LY. We didn't spot him at the ET either. Samson arrived about 8pm.....another milestone leading to Romy's independence. It's all good and normal. They will very likely roost together again, as they sure favor the LY! I believe Romy will be coming back and forth to the nest for another couple of weeks or so. He sure is an entertainer! Samson has been such a faithful parent. SED to our Hamlets and SED to all! Praying for peace in this troubled country.

gretchen_AEF Today at 8:17 PM
MONDAY TUCK-IN: Romy decided to bail out of the windy nest tree in hopes for some weaker winds over in the LY. He waited for dad. When dad appeared they both soon flew. Then Romy returned, but dad didn't. I guess it's payback time tonight! I'm sure Dad is close by in a protected place. Romy roamed from tree to tree in the LY tonight, until he finally settled down on his chosen pine to roost. All tucked! SED to all!
