:flirty: Niecey is on the point preening and he is on egg duty. She flew and then back on the point in a few minutes. And she's preening some more. And gone again. Male left 1:55 real time and no pip seen this view. Niecey returned and is on egg duty at 1:59.

:eggthumb: Niecey is on another break. She's on the point preening and he's on the eggs. After a long while, she came down the ledge, sometimes scooting her belly and underside along the concrete backward and forward. He watched from the eggs, chirping at her sometimes. Then she went back toward the point. Preens again, then started scooting around the point. And preening again. Guess when you spend most of your time on eggs, you've gotta get that underside area freshened! Then she perched for awhile. And preened again. Then a little more scooting. More preening and looking around. I think he's fallen asleep after watching her all this time. Then here she comes down the ledge again on her belly. He's watching her with a couple soft vocals. She runs down the ledge at 6:53 and then to the stick. He got up at 6:54 and flew, but shortly you hear the pre-mating vocals and sure enough he circled back and they mate with full vocals, then Niecey to the eggs. No pips seen this view.

:eggthumb: When I was here a bit ago, she was definitely reacting to the pipped egg. From Falcon Wire:

4/23/2021 :: We have a pip!
It all begins with a pip, which the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines as a verb: "to break through the shell of the egg." The first external pip appeared around noon today which indicates hatching is underway. Interestingly, the "first" pip occurs internally, as the body of the chick straightens and contracts, which forces the egg tooth against the egg's air cell, piercing it. This releases a limited supply of oxygen and enables the chick's lungs to begin working.
With the egg still sealed and with the chick exhaling carbon dioxide, limiting the amount of available oxygen, the body begins to press against the shell with the egg tooth repeatedly pushing against the shell and eventually breaking through. This is the external pip which allows oxygen to enter the egg to support the chick's breathing. Following this first, external pip, the chick will normally rest for several hours. Since the actual hatching process is so difficult, it may take from 24 up to 48 hours before this process is completed. Continue to follow Falcon Cam to watch as the first member of the 2021 hatchlings emerges.
