SUNDAY TUCK-IN: We hope all mothers out there had a wonderful Mother's Day! The Happy Hamlet had great weather and our most special eagle family to boot! Mom showed up this morning and delivered 3 fish today. Dad delivered 1, so the kids are in good shape! As usual they spent much of the afternoon at or in the nest. Then this evening Jasper flew off to her roosting spot at the LY where dad was already perched. Mom later circled in. Jasper was in usual form yipping away. Mom had enough and flew to the ET and is roosting there tonight while Rocket guards the nest. All is fine in the Hamlet pines! SED to our Hamlet family and all our family viewers!

:15heartbeat: Rocket not seen since this morning. (Edit to add: See tomorrow's post for correction on this info.) The Tuck:

"We sure didn't have the action at the nest tonight like last night! The day came in like a lion and went out like a lamb! A juvenile showed up at the nest this morning and perched for a bit with Rocket and Jasper at the nest. The juvie was soon intently escorted out by one of the kids. It was likely the same juvie that came to the nest last night. Samson delivered the first fish early this morning and Rocket consumed it. Then he flew about 9:15am and didn't return today. Perhaps he caught up with the juvie and is learning the ropes from him. Or he spent time off-site with mom or dad today. I believe he will return yet before he departs but experiencing his independence. A big switch as he's the "homebody" and Jasper is roosting at the nest tonight! She's been roosting for the past several nights either in the LY or ET. I believe she stayed at the nest most of the day and tonight waiting for her buddy, Rocket, to return. Given the fact that Jasper was at the nest so much today, she was the lucky recipient of 3 more fish delivered. She's sporting a sizeable crop! One parent was at the LY tonight at tuck and later mom showed up briefly at the nest and then flew likely to the LY or ET. As we approach the end of the season, routines change, but for a good reason.....as they should. Stay tuned 'cause the season's not over yet. SED to our Hamlets and to everyone! "

:15heartbeat: Frog currently on the nest. A correction about last night in tonight's Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:54 PM
SATURDAY TUCK-IN: A correction to last night's Tuck-in report.....it was Rocket at the nest much of the day yesterday and thru the night. He left early this morning. It was a quiet day in the Hamlet today. Other than Sam arriving with a fish this afternoon, we haven't seen the rest of the family at the nest today. It's that time when the kids will be out experiencing the big world out there. It's very likely they will return and possibly for short visits. Either way they are well equiped to live the independent life they are intended to live. They are likely observing mom and dad fishing and/or even hooking up with other juveniles. They wouldn't leave their nest or the area if they didn't feel competent. It was getting pretty dark when tucking, but there was at least one adult at the LY this evening and couldn't confirm if there were more. All is well, folks! SED to all

:15heartbeat: Rocket and Jasper were not seen today and I am unsure about Gabby. Samson was here today! The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:32 PM
SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Well the kids didn't show up at the nest today. Samson arrived with a fish, and with no takers he finished it off. We didn't see any of the Hamlets at tuck tonight either, as we were circling the nest, ET, LY a few times. The kids are likely still in the area but perhaps "outgrown" the need to be at the nest.....out there being eagles! SED to our Hamlets whereever they are and SED to all!

:15heartbeat: I don't think Rocket or Jasper were in today nor Gabby. Makes me wonder if she has already taken off for the season, she sometimes leaves before her juvies do. They said Samson did come in with a fish this morning. Only the googly-eyed frog is there tonight.

:15heartbeat: Nobody seen today. The Tuck:

TUESDAY TUCK-IN: No sightings of our Hamlets today at the nest or at the ET or LY. I will be going into the area tomorrow where Samson and Gabby often perch. I'll sure be checking for them. They are out being mighty eagles we cherish and are so proud of. SED Samson, Gabby, Rocket and Jasper and to all!

:15heartbeat: No sightings of Rocket or Jasper today, but possibly Samson or Gabby seen. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Yesterday at 8:03 PM
WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: No sightings today at the nest or tonight in the LY, ET or nest either....except some sweet deer grazing by the nest tree (5) with one fawn. I did see Samson or Gabby off-site perched tho. Where are our kids?? They must have gotten the weather forecast a few days ago with temps near or low 90's and decided to bail out and find cooler temps. They could return for a cameo appearance. That's happened in the past! Knowing they are equiped for independent life in the wild is sure reassuring. SED everyone and SED to our Hamlets too!

And an end of season slideshow by JD of night scenes as JD does the overnight shift here:

:15heartbeat: They were not seen again today. The Tuck:

THURSDAY TUCK-IN: No sightings again today, although we stayed until 8:30. I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of the kids popped in for a cameo appearance, as it's happened in the past a week after they left. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they were on their own journey as well. I'm betting they left together. All is well and the season was one for the books! Thank you for enjoying it with us. SED everyone!

:15heartbeat: No eagles seen here again today. Last chat tomorrow. Tucks will be reported in the off season when an eagle is seen. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:35 PM
SATURDAY TUCK-IN: In lieu of the weather, we actually stopped at the nest and onto the LY (at length) passing the ET. No sightings. Be certain I will gladly post a TUCK-IN report when there is a sighting thru the off-season, as I will be checking. SED everyone!

:eggthumb: Got here just in time to see the visiting osprey fly out from a branch on the nest tree. Captures at the site. Samson is spending the night at the LY and capture of him also at the site. They completed their end of the season chat earlier today and that will be it, unless they do a bonus chat they said and I am assuming that would be if Rocket or Jasper did a return visit. Hoping Rocket and Jasper have wonderful eagle lives!

:eggthumb: Photo at site. Excerpt from the Tuck:

"I saw an eagle that sure looked like Samson across the street (out of the Hamlet) perched. I believe he will remain in the area for awhile, but likely not always spotted. SED Samson! SED everyone!"
