The kids were asleep when Dad brought in prey, they slowly responded and got up to be fed, then Mom comes in and takes the prey away. :sunconfused:

    Falcon fans, we are sad to report that one of our four peregrine falcon chicks passed away this afternoon. By reading the bands of the three remaining chicks, Jackie Fallon confirmed that the deceased bird is Tom. Jackie and her team cannot confirm the cause of death or speculate.

    The deceased bird will not be retrieved at this time because the nestlings are so close to fledging. If anyone would approach the nest box now, it's likely the young birds would jump off and suffer injury or death because they cannot yet fly.

    The welfare of the three remaining chicks, as well as Hattie and Orton, remains the team's priority and is at the heart of all decisions being made.

    We appreciate the many messages of concern. For now, the live falcon cameras have been turned off.
    The photo below shows Orton delivering prey around 5 p.m. CDT today.

just checked in on them on the 9th but did not post pciutre as Nancy had the day before. this is so sad. but yes, the safety of remaining falcons is key now.

multifood.

I have nt obeen able to get this cam last while either. will keep trying. I know they will not have fledged as they are behind Mayo

Only saw the two, but one did flap for a while on the left side, then took off. It took the long route to the front and around to the right and up and finally down to the nest roof. Flying pretty well.
