:loveheart: Nobody on the nest tree tonight. No sightings of V2 that I am aware of again today. V3 is still around and I think the site believes he went to roost where ever Gabby is tonight.

:15heartbeat: V2 still not seen. V3 was in and out this morning and afternoon. He did bring a fish and Gabby didn't come in and he ate most of it. And he was back again this evening. He did bring a stick and he made a fluff delivery today. Gabby did come in and eventually ate the remains of the fish and they did do some work on the nest together. Right now I think he is on cam 1 preening and Gabby on 2 sleeping with her head tucked.

:15heartbeat: Gabby and V3 were both here today in and out, but nobody home tonight as yet. I think I remember reading earlier today V3 brought in a catfish and ate everything but the barb which he left on the nest. Some nestorations were done jointly too today.

TUCK REPORT: Both Gabby and V3 were perched at the nest before dusk and both flew off together. We could see in the distance they chased an eagle. Hmm…,is V2 defending the territory? Neither returned to the nest. Perhaps they are roosting together off site?! A possibility but we don’t know. Hope to see them at the nest in the morning. SED everyone!

:15heartbeat: They just finished checking the nest tree by cam for any returnees and there were none.

WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: After Gabby and V3 flew this evening, they didn't return. However, by their vocals it sounded like they were likely perched at the ET and probably roosting there for the night. Tomorrow is another day and another mystery. All in all, it's peaceful in the Hamlet, and days are looking brighter. SED everyone!

THURSDAY TUCK-IN: Well, after Gabby flew (a bit before 6pm) at dusk, we didn't hear any vocals nor did she or her recent buddy, V3, return. He flew a bit earlier than she did. I'm sure we will see them tomorrow. SED everyone!

:15heartbeat: Did not get to come in here earlier today, but apparently they are saying V1 came to the nest tree early this evening and is spending the night on it with Gabby.

FRIDAY TUCK-IN: Early report but it appears Gabby and surprise returnee, V1, are roosting nest-side tonight. Wonders never cease! Each day presents another mystery. Life in the hamlet is never dull. SED Gabby, V1 and all.

:15heartbeat: They have now ID'd a Sub Adult as V4 who is currently on the nest tree. And a statement from NEFL posted by Gretchen:

I tried to copy and paste the statement, however I got the "General Error" message even though I have been copying and pasting these posts at NEFL to here for years. It is happening elsewhere also. So, I refer you to the site if you are interested in reading as it is VERY LONG and I will not be retyping to here. It is on the situation the Hamlet finds itself in with the loss of Samson and an overview of happenings since.

Thanks for trying, SWINWK! Here is my try:
Got the same error message. I will try later. In the meantime here is a photo.

Oh, lots of screaming and they panned out. Gabby is on a branch and V4 went from branch back to nest.

:15heartbeat: With all the V's it is difficult to keep track, but in addition to V1, V2, V3, V4, we now have V5. I was watching the cam on YT when V4 and V5 arrived to the nest and I thought we might see a tussle for awhile, then they went to the branches and soon only 1 of them remained and I left. Both are sub adults and it is B5 who is the youngest. Gabby and V1 left this morning after having spent the night here. Nobody is on the tree tonight.

After V1 finally left early this morning is when V4 arrived and the mod initially did not have a name for it, but became V4 as time went on in her posts she was stacking:

Oh boy! Another visitor at 9:24. The visitor has moved to the cam branch. Nice view on cam 2 and 3. The visitor is on the Sunset branch area and can be seen on cam 1,2 and 3. V4 flew to the nest with vocals at 11:00 and is now perched on LOP. V4 flew at 11:10. Thanks for visiting!

Good afternoon Hamlet family! What a beautiful day here in the Hamlet! Thank you for being here. At 11:56, it appears to be V4 making another visit. What a little beauty! He flew at 12:18. Quick visit as seen on Cam 3 (Approach cam) at 12:53, bird landed on lower Wallenda, then flew immediately. Could not identify it as it was too fast. Appears to be V4 making another visit at 2:02, and flew away at 2:22. Next up is jc_AEF! Have a great rest of your day Hamlet family! Stay safe!

Quick visit at 3:20 by V4. Flies in to LOP and right off again.

This afternoon was a busy one! At 3:36 V4 flies in with an even younger eagle! Now called V5. V4 flies off and V5 stays until 4:31 and flies off. At 4:49 V4 arrives in the nest with vocals. At 5:32 V4 flies off. V4 back at 5:35 and Gabby flies in to the Wallenda at 5:36. Lots of vocals back and forth. At 5:52 both flew. Gabby 1st the V4. Next up is jd_AEF to see if anyone returns in the night. What will tomorrow bring??

V4 and V5 have been coming and going to and from the nest. They are both young (not mature) and are moving sticks etc.. Lessons they learned from their parents. No worries they are not ready for a home just yet. V4 appears to be a male and V5 may be a female. We watch and learn just like you.

Gabby flew in just about time the NEFL chat started at 5:00 pm EST. The youngster had been there, but Gabby was very vocal...youngster no longer there...

It seems every nest has its share of intruders this year.
This morning a nest dispute between Gabrielle and an immature.
Hope things settle so this site can get down to business.

Just happened to be online.

As much as I hate to watch or hear about the conflicts, I have to remind myself that these are signs of a healthy population where the strongest survive. It certainly is bittersweet.

so I think who posted a different video from different cam just after the dispute thi s morning, thought V6 was GAbriele as it was posted as a fight between Gabrielle and the immature.

From what I saw from other cam, V6 should not be too confident as th e younger eagle is very string and quick an d may just be biding its time.

I will see if I can find video.
very little time these days

:xmastree: They have added 3 more visitors since my post earlier and that brings it to 9 visitors. Will post them later this evening. Right now Gabby is on cam 1 and V9 is in cam 2. I'm just thankful night has fallen and there will not be anymore today...

So here we go (In this 1st post, they're referring to V4 who was spending the night on the tree with Gabby.):

jd_AEF
Gabby woke up at 3:27 am...she flapped her wings like she often did at that flying squirrel and hopped down to the nest...it appeared she scared the visitor and he flew off. I guess he's a night flyer too! Gabby spent a few minutes in the nest and then went up to Sunset Branch with vocals...who was she calling out to? Did she want him to come back? Another mystery...maybe we'll find out in the morning.

jd_AEF
At 4:31 am Gabby tucked her head to sleep some more.

jd_AEF
V4 arrived back in the nest at 6:41 am....Gabby doesn't seem glad to see him. He moved to Wallenda.

jd_AEF
Gabby flew and he followed at 7:04 am...V4 back again at 7:29 am...appeared to be chasing someone off. He flew again at 7:33 am and right back to the nest again. ..to LOP and then flew off again 7:41 am.(edited)

sharipf_AEF
And then there were 6! A new visitor #6 - named V6 arrived this morning and a pretty intense, but quiet, chase scene ensued between V4 and V6. V4 tried very hard to defend the nest, but V6 managed to drive him away - non-violently. V6 seems quite comfortable at the nest.(edited)

V6 has been perched cam 2 quite awhile. Here is a comparison of V6 with Gabby. Have to look close but there are differences(edited)

Gooood afternoon Hamlet!! Wowzers, what a morning! So action packed. So this is what eagle speed dating looks like! Firstly, I would just like to say that V6 is not Gabby or Juliet. However some characteristics are similar as in the dark feathers on tail is a trademark of Romeo, just as the back of V6's head is just like that of Juliet. This is definitely a different eagle than any other eagle we are familiar with. Now, the question is, will there be more suitors or will it stop at 6? Only God knows. All we can do is watch and wait. This has already been a wealth of eagle happenings we do not always get the chance to observe!

sharipf_AEF
Here is the chase sequence between V4 and V6 as seen on Cam 3 - the Approach Cam. Total sequence took over 24 minutes - this has been condensed down to eliminate the "empty" time in between their encounters. Lots of ins and outs and take offs and landings and a talon lock or two. V6 appears to have successfully driven V4 from the nest in this battle. Will V4 return? All we can do is observe.

4:41 an eagle lands on the nest. We are currently comparing pics to see if V4 or another new eagle.

And another eagle is now on Wallenda, with the previous eagle on Sunset. Gabby arrives at 5:14 and eagle on Wallenda flew(edited)

What an afternoon! We have had 3 different eagles plus Gabby this afternoon. The team is still going through snips to try to ID and sort this out and will update in a bit when it is clear.

MONDAY TUCK-IN: Whew.....what a whirlwind day......or a revolving door! At least it's peaceful for Gabby tonight, as she roosts with yet another eagle. They are both fully tucked with Gabby on Cam 1 and V9 on Cam 2. SED to our roosting eagles and to you too! What will tomorrow bring??

V9 hopped to the nest at 9:42 pm....looked like he might join Gabby but he decided to go right back to LOP again.

jd_AEF
V9 went back to the nest at 11:32 pm for some late night nest work. Gabby closely observed from Wallenda. He joined Gabby on the Wallenda branches and vocals were exchanged between them. She seems content to let him stay there.(edited)

:loveheart: V9 and Gabby did go to the nest during the night at least a couple of times to work, then each would go back to separate branches. And both went down to the nest 1st thing this morning. A visitor who would become V10 showed up to the nest at 7:11 and dug. It flew at 7:20. There were some more visits this morning by V9 and Gabby. Twice she brought moss for the nest. And V9 also returned by himself for a visit to the nest later in the morning. V9 returned for 1 last visit before dark. Gabby returned to the nest tree after dark tonight where she remains currently. ( :loveheart: But of course that would change by the time I completed this report, see below.)

:loveheart: The site reports this was not V7's 1st visit to the hamlet as he also visited on 11/17/22 prior to Samson's disappearance.

:loveheart: I heard someone fly while I was preparing this report and it turns out it was Gabby going to the nest. She flew out shortly:

jd_AEF
Gabby hopped to the nest at 12:39 am...then flew off at 12:42 am, likely to get out of the wind...she's probably at the ET or a more sheltered place....get some peaceful sleep Gabby...we'll hope to see you early in the morning.(edited)
