Just after 6 pm tonight Dec19.
And no, it cannot be visitors as it has been over a week since he was here.
Gabby was patient with V3
It is great watching him grow, just as F23 has grown under tutorage of M15

Will try to get some photos in this evening l :santalaugh: :santalaugh: :santalaugh: :santalaugh:

It appears V3 has been given a name...and it is Beau.

Well....he had trouble mating with Gabby and now, he has buried the egg. :gaaaaah: Hmmm.

I have felt from day one that this male was off with his laryngitis, absences from the nest site that allowed other males in, and difficulties mating. I do not believe this is due to his immaturity, as suggested by others off this site. He has been at this nest for over a year. He is no longer immature. Mating should be instinctive. He finally did the deed in the nest, but with difficulty. Nest building has not been in earnest by him. A stick here and there and some fluff, but not much in my mind. To me, there is just something off about this male. Not sure why he buried the egg, unless his hormones have not kicked in and he is not in sync with her. How long will it take? Perhaps his immature behavior is a developmental issue. I feel for Gabby. This may be her 2nd year without a family. We shall wait and see. I will continue perching.

Happy holidays to all of you! :holwave:

Thank Nadia - and Happy Holly Daze to you also!
I never liked V3, I think he's retarded.
Eagles are smarter at age 3 than this guy.

i guess , I am different.
I like V3.
He has been defending the area, he has brought in food. I have seen this behavior in falcons with first nesting.
I am giving him benefit of doubt. He has mated twice at nest and I think Gabby confuses him, when she is nattering at him when he came close to egg. It is hard to mate on nest , especially this one. It is very lumpy.
I have also over the years at Berry, seen egg buried
deep( I made a comment that it was on its way to china LOl) and at other sites, like shepherdstown, etc.
I also believe in nature and if this be another year without young so be it.
We have no control over nature and if the other males that came around were strong , they would be nesting here.
We get so tied up with ones in the past that we forget that all are different. It is not my place to pass judgement on nature as we do not see beyond the cam
I know at Harrisburg, they were down on new male because it was no little dad.( falcons)

So it is a wait and see, but I never the less like V3

Funny Gabby didnt dig her first egg up again.
Be interested if it hatchs - or if Gabby lays a 3rd.
Sorry if I'm negative, but cant help it.

I enjoy NORAD tracking santa.

Beau continues to learn. Some have to be taught. This is his first nesting. It will be what it will be, but people forget, we can’t compare to Samson, or Romeo and Juliet. He is his own (person) so to speak
Hoping for best outcome

 Beau was perched in the tree a good part of the day today and made no effort to incubate during the stretches of time that Gabby left him in charge of the nest and egg. He didn't even give it a glance. Hmmm.

I guess I am seeing different. I saw him in nest, he poked around egg a bit but Abby making soft sounds. I almost thought he might incubate ( this was yesterday)

He is acting like one of my falcons years ago. From my U of A nest. Try as our female might, when she flew, he flew. But like Beau, he did protect egg from outside the box. Every once in awhile he would look at egg.
It was a week before hatch that he made attempts to incubate. I followed this site from the ground, and Chase had to work hard, also, to secure nest site. You did not see from cam, but Peter and I did)
We are so used to our long time eagles, that I think , we are forgetting that with most young ones, they take time .
Even if no chicks this year, this male has proven, that he has great potential.
I watch eagle country, and 3 seasons ago when Abby came in , we had severe male rivalry. We had one death. Their cams are great and they can take you many places. Blaze would be there, then another. We saw fighting away from nest. I think that season, Abby was ready but she had at least 5 suitors. Blaze won out and would keep coming back. So that season , when Blaze finally secured nest, he and Abby just came to get to know each other.( like the visitor who mated with Gabby this year, we had some mate with Abby, and then they were gone and Blaze was back)
The next season, it took a bit but we had 2 young ones. Last season, nest tree blew over as did many others in a hurricane, and took out their cams also. Eagle country, finally secured where they may nest and put up new cams . We just had first egg , Christmas Day
So here at this site, we do not see beyond the nest. I felt V3 was out patrolling his borders.
So I will just watch and learn. I do not worry about mods. Most of them are pretty positive and caring. I do know, that when things get negative, they do erase as there are school classes that moderate. I go in every once in awhile and give an inside. It is accepted well.
I am time limited here for still a bit, but hope to be more hands on in January.
Enjoy and know that we have no control over nature
Seasons blessings
